Barns and Blooms in Upstate New York

This is so not New York City.
Some parts of the country had severe weather yesterday.  But here, spring is continuing. We finally got our first 80 degree day, and should have another one today.

A little tired after Mother's Day, I am letting my "guest photographer" provide some lovely pictures of white trees for today's post.  Later this week, I'll fill you in on some of the gardening my spouse and I have been doing.

My guest photographer lives out in the country, and this will let you see the hilly, rolling countryside of where I live in upstate New York.  So many people think New York State is New York City.  It isn't.

We don't have skyscrapers here.  What we do have is a lot of beautiful hills and rivers.  There are farms just a few miles from my urban home. And, by the way, a lot of New York State is not urban at all.

Slowly, the trees are leafing out on the hills here in the Binghamton, New York area.  These photos were taken on May 10, incidentally.
Don't you love country roads?  I wonder where this road goes.

Is it time to take a journey?  Where would you want to go on this road?  Let me know in the comments.

  1. Growing up in NYC, I never thought there was a world beyond my world. your post validates that. Most New Yorkers don't realize there is a world beyond NYC. The first time at sleepaway camp in upstate NY opened a new world for me.
Great post and beautiful pictures. NYS is a charming state.

  3. Hi - stopping by from the Facebook UBC group! I am familiar with upstate New York, because my ex-in-laws had a camp there, and some of my ex-husband's family still live in the area. I grew up in New Hampshire, and now live in Maine, and I'm definitely a country gal! Next to walking or driving on country roads, I enjoy walking on our ocean beaches and paths that overlook the ocean. Thanks for sharing the beautiful photos!

  6. I'd like this road to lead to a sheltered valley. I'd remain there for an hour or so. The sun would warm my back but not overheat me. A stream trickling over nearby rocks mingles with chirps from birds in the still air. The scent of blossom takes me back to a happy time. Thanks for the trip. ;-)
