Local Saturday - Strawberries Forever

In Binghamton, New York, my spouse and I walk towards the farmers market.
Beautiful Korean Dogwood
Isn't this dogwood beautiful?

So fortunate that Cutler Botanic Gardens is right next to the market, although parking can get a bit tight.  The roses are finally opening up and I hope to have some pictures for you later this week.

Peas are finally in season.

Beautiful display.

It's strawberry time.  It's been a long wait!  Doesn't the display of strawberries seem to stretch on forever?

Visions of strawberry shortcake are dancing in my head - now to find a low calorie version.
Someone is still picking asparagus.

What is your favorite strawberry recipe?

  1. I bought local strawberries at our farm market this morning! We'll be having a light dinner tonight, followed by dinner-sized servings of strawberry shortcake with homemade biscuits and REAL whipped cream! One of my favorite days of the year!

  6. We don't have a favorite recipe with strawberries. I usually just eat them like that. ;-)

Some lovely clicks! Thank you for sharing.

  7. Farmer's Markets inspire me to get out of the cooking, or non cooking rut, I may be in at the moment. I find that living alone, I don't cook for myself like I did when there was someone else here.

  8. The strawberries have been around here for a bit longer than that. The strawberry stands open in February or March, and I'm told that's normal. (I don't particularly like strawberries, so I don't really notice.)

  9. Oh my you have me drooling at such fresh and exotic bounty- strawberries and asparagues making me go weak in my knees - I am so full of envy right now. So what did you pick and what did you make out of it?
