Signs of Spring

On the eve of another snowstorm in the Binghamton area of New York State, there are signs of spring everywhere.

Birds sing.

The day length increases daily.

In my back yard, white heuchera.

Pink heuchera, also in the back.

On the side of my house, my early jonquils are starting to come up.  I've had these for over 30 years, and they came up our house.  I wonder how old they are.

And finally, another bulb that appeared one day and rarely blooms.  I've forgotten what it is.

Tomorrow, these may well be covered by snow again, but today they will have one last day of basking in the 50's.

By Friday, we will be having wet, gloppy snow and wind.

Welcome back to winter.

  1. I am always amazed at my various coral bell plants that still have green leaves after being covered with snow. The only thing popping up in my yard are daffs and they will be covered by snow today if the forecast is right.

  2. I have seen a few hints of Spring around here although it seems to be taking its time here as well.

  4. So, you just cleared something up. My synagogue is on the corner of Jonquil Street. Now, all I have to do is get some of those flowers to grow in our garden!

  5. Hooray almost spring! Funny, it wasn't that long ago that I said something here about not having seen shoots yet but now they're coming up everywhere!
