Sustainable Saturday - Otsiningo Community Garden

Considering that my twitter handle is "RamblinGarden", I rarely blog about my spouse's community garden plot.  Today, I intend to change that.

This year, for the first time, we have our own sign.

Why, you may ask, is our symbol a dinosaur?  There is a story behind that but no, we aren't that old fashioned in the Binghamton, New York area.

This year, for various reasons, gardening is going to be a struggle.  We've had to cut gardening from two plots to one. Our second plot lies fallow, but volunteer sunflower seedlings are everywhere, and I hope we will be allowed to harvest them if they grow. (We've had volunteers for years).

Meanwhile, here are some of our crops - zinnias and tomatoes.

Beans.

Squash (and a lot of rocks).

It is increasingly difficult for us to garden, but I hope we can hang in there.  If my readers wish, I will follow our garden's progress during this coming growing season.

We've had the coldest April on record, followed by the warmest May.  What is in store for us this summer?

  1. So glad you have a plot to plant. That is something on my wish list. I wanted to have a garden, but right now it is all cast away from my atmosphere. 😁 I am waiting to see them grow.
