Time Has Come Today #MusicMovesMe

It's Monday.  Time for Music Moves Me.

Who are the #MusicMovesMe bloggers? We blog about music each Monday.  Every other week we have a theme, and on alternate weeks, we can blog about any music we wish.  First, there is XmasDolly,   Her co-conductors are:  Callie of JAmerican Spice,  and ♥Stacy of Stacy Uncorked♥   Also, co-conducting  is  Cathy from Curious as a Cathy .  And finally, there's me.

<!-- end LinkyTools script —> Thank you, Michelle at Angel's Bark, for co-hosting his month.  Next month's co-host choosing themes two Mondays in November will be Stacy of Stacy Uncorked.

Two days after a tragic shooting, my heart still breaks, but music can be a great healer.

It's time for Halloween (and if you want a great playlist, Stunning Keisha has one for you.) But today, I am moved to blog about time.

Time Has Come Today -Chambers Brothers, has a long version that runs some 11 minutes.  I almost picked this for my Unusual Instruments post of last Monday, but decided to keep it.  I absolutely love this.

Times Like These - Foo Fighters, from 2002.
How about a cover of a Laura Nyro song And When I Die by Blood, Sweat and Tears?  It isn't directly about time, but isn't thinking of our mortality a reason to use our time on Earth as best we can? (Dedicated to the 11 dead in the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting of October 26, 2018).

Time by Pink Floyd, off the iconic Dark Side of the Moon album.

A fun one I had to include because it was by the Zombies.  "Time of the Season".

One more - Too Much Time by Styx.  It's a problem too many of us don't have.

Join me again soon for another edition of #MusicMovesMe.

  2. Wow! From the Zombies (and the Kinks and the Who) of my youth, to the Chambers Brothers (my fraternity used that to start EVERY party we ever had!) to my son's hero (who lived around the block)- Dave Grohl.
Almost took my mind off of Pittsburgh, to where I am off.

  4. Alana,

Great theme for today! I was just thinking about how fast time is getting away from us with it being the end of October and all. The holiday season is staring at us square in the face, isn't it? Honestly, I say it every year, it seems just like yesterday we were celebrating Thanksgiving/Christmas and here are at it again. I like how you incorporated the Zombies into your theme with with Halloween in two days. Excellent job! Thanks for boogieing with me, my friend.

  5. BS&T was one of my favorite groups. I liked them better than Chicago, back in the day. Sad to have to use it as a memorial song on this Monday morning, however, there is much to be said for being prepared to step into eternity and not being afraid to die.

  9. Good set! "Time Has Come Today" is especially good, particularly the long version, so I'm glad you went with that. I like that you included BS&T's song; even if it was slightly off-topic, it fits nicely. A couple I'd include: Culture Club's "Time (Clock of the Heart)," Jim Croce's "Time In A Bottle" and The Outsiders' "Time Won't Let Me."

  11. Hi Alana,
Thanks for all your support during my co-hosting month. I've had a lot of fun doing it and will look forward to the next time.

Your title says it all. The time has certainly come; it's been here... but for some reason, no one seems to be doing anything about it. But we have to have faith and we have to do all we can in our own ways to ensure that we create a world in which we want to live and that we will be proud to leave behind. I pray that all those people who typically have their heads buried in the sand, unaware of what really is happening right under their noses, will have enough initiative to learn and realize what is taking place and further realize the power they have to foster change. And then I pray that they take action to do it! I did it this morning. I pray the good will overcome the evil and that all the dirty tricks that are being perpetrated on the American public will backfire and steer this out of control ship correct before it sinks.

Music not only is a healer but it also often serves to illuminate.
You have some awesome and timeless songs here. I LOVE the Chamber Brothers hit: I used that one last week in my cowbell post. I think I also used it several months ago in a battle of the bands. It's a great song!
As is the Zombies' "Time of the Season." The video had an incredible array of 60s fashion. That was fun!
What else was fun was hearing Blood Sweet & Tears song "And When I Die". I haven't heard that song in so long! I don't hear much of Blood Sweat & Tears and I need to do something about that!
Styx is another band that may have been underrated. They have some amazing music. I think I have them in the cue for an Artist Spotlight one of these days...

And I gotta say, I've been sufficiently indoctrinated to the Foo Fighters for me to say "I gotta explore more!" Just in the last few weeks I've encountered and been introduced to several of their songs. The more I hear of them, the more intrigued I become. Thanks for including that one.

    Great music today Alana.
Have a good week. May we all make it count!
