The friend I call my guest photographer looked out her window the other day and saw this:
Stretch....No, it wasn't Yogi Bear.
Bears are commonly seen in the countryside here in the Southern Tier of New York, and sometimes in urban areas. Years ago, another friend once saw a bear while walking in her neighborhood. Fortunately the bear did not approach her.
I am having a dental procedure today, so I may not respond to you right away. But I will.

...neat , but from a distance!
ReplyDeleteI'll stick with my coyotes. Uh, bears, no.
ReplyDeleteThat is quite a sight! I would be so thrilled to see a bear in the wild.
ReplyDeleteOh my!
ReplyDeleteGood luck at the dentist.
I love all wildlife. I would love to see this cutie pie, but from a distance.
ReplyDeleteGood luck at the dentist.

That would be scary, right outside your window! Thankfully, we don't see bears here in Suburbia. Coyotes, on the other hand, are a real menace. Hope all goes well with your dental procedure!
ReplyDeleteTerrific shots.
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing and it is a good looking bear. Often times the ones who come into residential areas are scrappy looking.
ReplyDeleteWe have bears in town, in residential neighborhoods, every so often. They are usually in trees, probably trying to get away. Once a cub wandered into a Rite Aid.
ReplyDeleteHope your dental work went well and painfree.
Bears always look so cuddly. Good thing I don't live somewhere near them or I would probably die trying to pet them. I hope the dental procedure goes well.
ReplyDeleteNice pictures. I've been to a lot of wild places but I've never actually encountered a bear in any of them. Perhaps they saw me first.
ReplyDeleteIt's exciting when you see a bear that close. I remember years ago we were in the Smoky's Cades Cove area walking one of the trails when a large bear crossed the path right in front of us and began walking the trail ahead of us. At first I didn't notice because it seemed so natural, that it didn't register but then it hit me...all of us and we just froze still in our tracks, speaking loudly hoping to get its attention for it to move on its way faster. The bear didn't seem anxious or threatened by us in the least. It eventually ambled off the trail into the woods with us all taking a sigh of relief. That was both thrilling and terrifying. We got off good, I'd say. Your friend did a fabulous job capturing the moment. There's a bear that hangs around or it did at the time my daddy was a live and he'd always say "I'm going to kill me a bear". I think he waited for it a time or two on the porch with his gun in hand hoping to pick it off but that never happened. I wouldn't like a bear snooping around my house. They can get inside super easy if they really want doing a lot of damage to your property, maybe even you. I'll just admire them from afar in the mountains from the safety of my car while it's in motion. lol
ReplyDeleteI just noticed a few comments that you're having or had dental work. I hope that goes or went well, Alana. You're in my thoughts and prayers. xo
ReplyDeleteI hope your dental procedure went well. One does not want to get too near a bear. I saw one once when I was in a car, and that was still too close.
