This was a first for me.
I thought I saw two swallowtail butterflies having a, shall we say, romantic moment while fluttering around some tall phlox and glads.
But it wasn't two butterflies.
Once the butterfly started to alight on the flowers, I did a quick ID with my iPhone's built in bug/plant/landmark ID app within the Photos app.
How beautiful.
I've only seen a handful of butterflies this year. I hope this is a sign that this is about to change.
The giant swallowtail isn't endangered-not yet.

Pretty butterflies. We haven't seen any here yet. Hopefully they will be around soon.

Beautiful indeed. I've not seen a butterfly this year either, but with all the landscaping going on here they probably are elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. ♥
Beautiful capture, Alana! ♥ We don't see many butterflies here.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love seeing them, one of the first that show up here.
ReplyDeleteGiant Swallowtails have been pretty plentiful in my backyard recently and that is a very happy thing.
ReplyDeleteWow, how lucky! I have cabbage whites, and a few of our swallowtails this year. Not many around.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful sign, this butterfly!
ReplyDeleteFantastic images with this flower.
Happy WW, Alana! A fine week!❤️😘
There have been so many butterflies around me lately. Not quite the swarms we had a few years back, but I've noticed a definite uptick in sightings. But I hear their populations are down. I wish you many more butterflies.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful butterfly and flowers.
ReplyDeleteI've been seeing lots of butterflies as well. The august flowers are keeping bugs happy!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite butterflies. (BTW, my husband and I call those romantic moments "dating," if you want to use a naturalist term. lol)
