I love birds. I am not a birder, but I've thought about getting into what, when I was younger, was called "bird watching".
I love live birds, and I love birds in art. Here are some examples of bird art I've seen this winter season.
In Owego, New York, the "coolest small town in America" is a store called the Hand of Man. It is crammed with thousands of gift items, including a line of peacock decorated items that are imported from England.
I could spend an entire afternoon in there.
More of the peacock gift items. Could you imagine decorating your house in Peacock?
And finally, at a museum called Hanukah House in Binghamton, open only during the holiday season, I found this bird wall hanging. Is it a peacock? I don't know, but it was lovely.
Indeed, winter art can be for the birds.
Do you like birds in art? What do you think the prettiest bird is?
Alana--love the peacocks! And a museum that's only open for Hanukah! I saw a painting of a bird in the tree tops that was probably 10 feet by 15 feet or larger by a guy named Celaya this weekend. It was $180,000. Got into a little argument with my beau about whether it was "worth it." Birds generally don't hang around long enough to paint from life...but it's something I could think about painting. I would love to do a peacock home. I do have some peacock influenced fashion.
ReplyDeleteIf you search my blog for "Hanukkah" you will find several posts on Hanukkah House. I will be posting some more art from last year's display later this year. I would love to have a peacock house, too! I came so close to buying some of those objects in Owego.
DeleteI want to go shopping with you! I love the peacocks. They are so beautiful. I'm not sure what my favorite bird is, but I sure do think peacocks are elegant.
ReplyDeleteI agree! My uncle's late ex-wife's sister (that is a mouthful, isn't it) lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma and had peacocks on her property. The feathers were so pretty!
DeleteGlad to see another Upstate NY blogger, although I am in Western, NY (rochester). That second picture with the glittery purple caught my eye immediatly! I love glittery stuff (even if it does make a mess!)
ReplyDeleteI like glitter, too. One day I may buy one of the small glittery purses that are the style right now - except it would probably shed inside of my larger handbag.
