Well....
I've seen snow flurries plenty of times in October. But, so far, not this year.
And, I remember taking my son trick or treating one year in the early 1990's with the hills above us receiving some 13 inches of sloppy snow. For us in the valley, we got less, but it was one miserable night. I led my little superhero, bundled up underneath his costume (his choice!), from house to house, where he was showered with enough candy to open a store. (

Now, we still have leaves on some of our trees past November. Other trees are peaking out now.
Global warming (or climate change, as I would rather call it) has been a mixed blessing for the Binghamton area.
I am loving the 70 degree weather (21 C) forecast for tomorrow.
But, wait. In the forecast for Saturday...
...yes, you guessed it.

So far, just rain... and I hope it stays that way! I'm supposed to have Tuesdays off to take our girls to dance in the city (60 miles away through the mountains) but they scheduled me every Tuesday in November... ACK! My husband is NOT good driving in snow, so the girls know that any snow forecast means they have to stay home.

DeleteCloudy and warm. The term "global warming" should never have been used because it is misleading. Yes, ice is melting, but so many other things are happening. Climate change is upon us.
ReplyDelete"Global warming" was such an unfortunate choice of words- I agree with you. I think the biggest challenge of all is going to be learning to live with flooding - both on the coast and inland. Even the clouds look different now.
DeleteI've noticed that about the clouds! Just commented on someone's post the other day that so many clouds look like contrails. Not sure if it is because of all the planes or something else.
DeleteAlana, I am beginning to believe that weather is fickle anywhere you live! It was mainly sunny today and like your area, we are witness to a lot of leaves changing colour still - so beautiful this time of year - and yet as of yesterday, a lot of rain leftover from a hurricane was supposed to hit us hard today and/or tomorrow...time will tell as the weather seems to change constantly! ;) <3
ReplyDeleteThe weather is fickle everywhere - yes. Torrential rains, terrible droughts, snow in the South, melting in Alaska, strange looking clouds - sometimes I feel like I am living in a science fiction story. Maybe we all are.
DeleteToday, Tuesday, is sunny and mild here in England. The trees have lost half their leaves and I'm just about to hang the washing on the outdoor clothes line. Yay!

DeleteAs you said rightly there are two sides to global warming, certainly the odds against us far outweigh those in favour but sometimes it's alright I guess
