Yesterday, I had asked my readers to tell me what they would like to read about in my 2000th post. I incorporated two responses in this post and I'll use the others in future posts. Thank you, commenters!
So, here's a little mini-interview with myself.
Let's start with Kimberly, who asks me to describe what I consider the "most surprising thing about your blogging journey."
I am tempted to respond "I'm surprised that I'm still doing it six years later" but I must explain further. What surprises me the most about my blogging journey is that, after a two year start up period of blogging to an Internet full of crickets, I found the world of blogging communities and blogging challenges. This was thanks to a writer and blogger who happened to be dating one of my cousins (well, it was more complicated than that). Thanks to Billie, I joined a daily blogging challenge just hours before its registration ended, struggled and completed it, and then kept posting daily because I wanted to. I still am posting daily.
Librarian Katy Manck asks "How about favorite food or flower for the biggie? Something that you could enjoy 2000 times in your life!"
Well, Katy, that would be most flowers. I could not imagine a life without flowers. But let me pick out several as my favorites. I could enjoy all of these 2,000 times.
The lilac, because it smells so sweet, and is with us for only a few days each year. Its scent reminds me of Lilacs and Roses, an old brand of talcum powder my Mom (who died in 1965) loved.
The day lily, because they are so indestructible, and come in so many varieties.

Weren't mine. I think this was taken in 2013 |
Again, thank you again for taking this blogging journey with me. I hope you will stick around for the next 2,000 posts.
What are you going to do this weekend?
Congrats on 2000! Well done!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Laurel!
DeleteHi Alana,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 2,000 posts! Wow! As I found out with the A to Z challenge, that takes real organization to fit one in every day. (I'm still on W and hope to finish -- late -- in a few days). My sister loved guacamole too and I always think of her when I see it. Love the flowers you chose. I do look forward to reading more of your posts as I'm a big fan! Blog on!
Amy
Thank you, Amy. It's not so much organization as time - and if I had your busy life, it would be hard for me to fit in blogging. I stand in awe of people juggling many responsibilities and challenges who are still able to write educational and entertaining posts like yours.
DeleteConsidering that most blogs that get started never make it past 100 posts, 2000 is quite an accomplishment. One to be celebrated. BTW, I agree with you on the guacamole. Love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Dorothy. I asked for a couple of favorite foods for Mother's Day and guacamole is on the menu.
DeleteCongrats on 2000. What am I doing this weekend? Writing posts for three different blogs. Sigh. I don't look forward to these weeks.
ReplyDeleteThat is a heavy schedule and something I would not care to do. I seriously thought about having two blogs, but it is something I decided not to pursue.
DeleteCongratulations! #2000 Post Party is indeed in order. Beautiful flowers...I too love Zinnas....they are easy to grow in Texas dirt, too. I haven't checked my totals in quite awhile, and your celebration reminded me to do just that. Seven more posts and I'll have to throw a #1000 Post Party.

I couldn't tell you how many post I've done. I came to enjoy blogging and I would give up my facebook page, twitter, and any of my other social media I may use, before I would give up blogging.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on
2000 posts!!!! WOW, Alana. Incredible! Congrats and here's to many more. :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful post, Alana. Those flowers are inspiring, as are the reasons behind picking them--especially 'Lilac and roses'. Bless all mothers.
ReplyDeleteAnd well done with your daily blogging. You set a great example to others.
Hello? How many? How many did you say? I had to read and re- read and look and re-look to make sure that it wasn't 200, but 2000th post. Congratulations to you and the patience which you have.
ReplyDeleteI had to read your blog this weekend..as I was pretty buzy with office schedule and had to miss many of the blogs. The photos again in this posts are really slurpy except for the last one .. What in the heavens sake is that?
