The bathing beaches are closed.
Where children's laughter echoed yesterday, there is silence.
Children prepare to return to school, memories of Johnson City, New York field days and last night's fireworks still fresh in their minds.
While only yesterday it was summer, today, it is fall. Not on the calendar, not according to the weather, but in our minds.
And with that, I begin a week of flashbacks.
Some blogging experts recommend you occasionally rerun old posts. Tomorrow begins the fifth anniversary of Tropical Storm Lee, a storm that came several days after another tropical storm, Irene. Between the two storms, many areas of upstate New York flooded. My neighborhood was one of them.
For the next week, my blog will be in "flashback mode" as I relive the events of five years ago for my new readers.
To know where you are going, you must know where you've been. I hope you will join me on this ride, starting tomorrow.
It sounds really interesting Alana - I didn't know you back then so I'll be interested to read your story.
ReplyDeleteI hope it meets your expectations, Leanne.
DeleteI am not sure recycling is the way to go. Although, we seem (as a nation) to be prone to repetition.
ReplyDeleteWell, I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea (or coffee) but I have emotional reasons for the reruns.
DeleteThis should be interesting! I look forward to reading on.
ReplyDeleteThank you. It's part of a healing process that is ongoing.
DeleteI did the same thing, this morning. Sometimes the power of a piece just keeps on humming. Looking forward, Beth
ReplyDeleteI hope you...well, I won't say enjoy...well, maybe I will say enjoy.
DeleteSince I'm one who is fairly new to your blog, this sounds like an interesting way to get to know you a little better.
ReplyDeleteBlogging experts say to rerun posts? Really? And here, I've been doing it when I had nothing new to say.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of re-runs. Sometimes it's inspiring! I enjoy looking back and re-reading the comments...many from people who no longer blog. I'll look forward to your re-posts.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea. I should try the same. I look forward to reading your re-posts :)
ReplyDeleteSounds interesting. Looking forward to catching up on what I've missed.
