A Study in Contrast

Saturday, November 19, 2016, the Southern Tier of upstate New York.

Witch hazel in bloom in the 67 degree F weather (19.4 degrees Celsius).

The next day.

Sunday afternoon.   Snow on the scarecrow and southernwood plant.
On planters.

And then the snow REALLY started to fall.  So far, officially, we have over 15 inches.

Not bad for the first snow of the season.

Five cities in upstate New York compete for a "golden snowball" award each year.  For once, I don't appreciate us being in first place.

Because, gee, it's still fall.  Isn't it?

    My kids are waiting for the snow....It has been terribly windy here in NJ for the past three days....snow there has been none....

    Wow. We only got a dusting on Saturday. Sorry, but better you tan me. Although we are supposed to get freezing rain tomorrow, and I would prefer snow.

    That's quite a lot of snow! I've never seen real snow since it does not snow around the place I live in India. Those are beautiful clicks!

    Snow is beautiful but I can do without the freezing cold temperatures. No snow here yet!

    We had precipitation on Sunday, too. Of course, ours was only rain, and it was much warmer. Well, first place is a good thing, right ;)

    It seems we have comparable snowstorms and snowfall to yours, Alana, here in Maine! And yes, early snowfall when leaves and flowers are still around is always a different sight to see.
