Welcome to #ThursdayTreeLove, a meme started by blogger Parul Thakur of Happiness and Food.
What could be happier than a blooming tree?
Take, for example, this beautiful dogwood, in full bloom here in the Binghamton area of upstate New York, contrasted against a red maple.
Or this tree, in full bloom, on our Vestal, New York Rail Trail.
But, into a tree's life some rain must fall. Sometimes, too much rain falls. Way too much rain falls. Wind blows. This (after cleanup) is what I saw on the same Vestal Rail Trail on May 6.
Every life comes to an end. And, after a storm on May 1, many tree lives ended here.
Alas.
Let us pay tribute to these trees, who have given their all. They were shade. Some were beautiful flower bearers. And now, they will serve a final use in the scheme of Nature.
Have you hugged a tree today?
My crabapple still has blossoms despite the fact we got more rain last night. It's sad to lose a good tree.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, they were felled before they provided their full "all"- by f-alling and hurting someone or blocking the road.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful trees! Really feel bad to see how nature's fury can bring down such beauties.
ReplyDeleteTrees are life .Just cannot bvelieve people can cut down trees.Love your post for the beautiful tree and plant pictures Alana.
ReplyDeleteOh no! I feel hurt seeing the death of the trees :(
ReplyDeleteBut the blooming one is really gorgeous.Thank you for joining, Alana.
I think that I shall never see a poem as lovely as a tree
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful trees! It's always a pity to see trees felled by nature, but that is the cycle of birth and death, right?
ReplyDeleteA sad story. I know how fierce winds can blow trees over. Scary stuff.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful trees. Mother Nature provided them and Mother Nature took them down. Hope someone can use them for firewood.
ReplyDeleteI hate to see broken trees - always make me sad!! Over commercialization is killing not just the forests but even the few trees we have left in the city which cant find purchase in teh ground to go deep and hence are uprooted in storms!!!
ReplyDeleteso sad to see the trees cut, some fallen - i like the first two pictures- they make me feel happy !!
ReplyDeleteI love the tree with blooming flowers in spring. So sad to see many trees cut.
ReplyDeleteInteresting photos, Alana. I followed the link from Parul's blog. Trees in bloom are wonderful to behold and make spring fever come alive. Too bad about the storm damage. Must have been a bad one!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet, meaningful post. Thank you. xoxo
