Here in upstate New York, we were part of an extensive heat wave. Fortunately it didn't last as long for us as it did for some others.
So, what else is blooming?
But not much is happening with my perennials. At this time of year, I have a gap in the action. I need to think about buying something that will help fill that gap. This is what I can show you.
In the back, plenty of Yellow corydalis, also known as yellow bleeding heart.
And pink.

ReplyDeleteMy belated MIL loved Sweet Williams. I planted some years ago and I'd like some more but our soil is so horrible. It's so difficult to grow anything in this awful hard, red clay! *sigh* Love your flowers! Maybe next spring I can prepare ahead to have a nice flower garden again.
I remember red clay from a couple of places I lived. It's difficult to improve but can be done - but it is a LOT of work. I hope you have the time next spring, Cathy.

DeleteI love the "face" on that pansy! Don't you think some of them show real personality? I think the heat wave was short enough that it didn't fry plants. It did bring several of mine into full bloom, though! For color this time of year, try some Nepeta, or some late-blooming bulbs like Allium or Dutch Iris. I love the orchids, and isn't it great that they have such a long bloom period? Have a great weekend, Alana!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend too, Kimberly. I spent some time looking at Dutch Iris (thank you for your suggestions). My husband doesn't like ornamental alliums that much and I really don't know why. They are so easy to grow.
