But before I get too heavy, let me introduce ourselves:
Who are the #MusicMovesMe bloggers? We ride on a weekly train of music and we are headed by our head Engineer XmasDolly. Her co-conductors are: ♥Callie of JAmerican Spice♥, (who right now is doing on and off visits) and ♥Stacy of Stacy Uncorked♥ Also, ♥Cathy from Curious as a Cathy♥ And, finally, last but not least - little ol' me. And, for the next few months, we will also have guest conductors.
So let's rock!
I will start out with a classic overview of history, including brief mention of the Korean War(the War that wasn't ever called a war when I was growing up but, rather a "Police Action" I love this video and its "growing up in the 50's and 60's" vibe.
The song Cult of Personality - Living Colour, could have been written last week, but it wasn't. It was released in 1988 by a New York City band who formed in 1984 and are still performing today. If the guitar solo doesn't blow you away, nothing will.
Lunatic Fringe - from the Canadian group Red Rider, from 1981.
A classic of confusion and where the world is today, except it was released by the Temptations in 1971 - Ball of Confusion
Yes, today's post is a bit grim, but a lot is riding on the upcoming summit and we can only hope that sanity wins out, and stays won.
Let's hope. In the meantime, let's rock!
In order for sanity to win out, you must start with sane people. I am not sure we are at that point.
ReplyDeleteAlways love your music choices...
ReplyDeleteGreat picks this week!
ReplyDeleteI hope it is not "the eve of destruction"! The aftermath? To add to conspiracy theories and general anxiety, I just happen to be reading 'The Kremlin Conspiracy' which has this as a sub plot line!
ReplyDeleteSanity. Something that seems sadly lacking right now.
ReplyDeleteWow, some songs I hadn't thought of in a very long time, but perfect for your theme.
ReplyDeleteHi Alana
ReplyDeleteI do agree that it will be interesting to see how this summit plays out. You've picked some good choices that express a lot of emotions that people are feeling today.
Appaws! While we're no fans of 45, we certainly hope he succeeds in brokering peace although he's done the opposite at home. Excellent choice of songs. Wonder if the black suitcase made the trip.
ReplyDeleteIt is so interesting that the world can change with those two. Hopefully, they do the right thing. Great songs.
ReplyDeleteWow! Great job girlfriend! You really did your homework on this one didn't ya? Plus you have definitely ROCKED THE HOUSE! OOOOOOOO LORDIE YOU SURELY DID!!! Loved it.. and so many when I use to go out and party with the girls. Thanks for bringing back many good memories for me!!! WOO HOO! As far as politics goes... I think what's going on now is just too sad! Our President was chosen by American Citizens & the other american citizens that didn't should stop acting like spoiled rotten brats & get up off the floor & stop kickin' their feet because they didn't get their way! I mean give me a breatk! Have a great week! BIG HUGS
ReplyDeleteHi Alana,
ReplyDeleteEXCELLENT set of songs here! Perfect picks to align with your thoughts. I felt we were on the Eve of Destruction back in November 2016. As for the Summit, aka the meeting of two lunatics: How crazy is it that both "men" met behind closed doors with no one else in the room except for the two translators? There's no tellin' what kind of "deals" 45 was making. And you know he's totally going to lie about what was said there. I mean, why would we believe anything that he says in regarding what took place behind those closed doors? He lies CONSTANTLY!
OMG, don't even get me started. In the word of Barry McGuire, "This whole crazy world is just too frustrating"... Yep!
Most days I want to get out and fight, take to the streets, but other days, I just want to put my head in the sand or stay in bed with the blankets over my head and submerge myself in binge-watching the Real Housewives... Lol.
Anyway, this was a brilliant playlist Alana. I'm loving it!
Have a great week,
Michele at Angels Bark
Alana,
ReplyDeletePeace for this world isn't meant to be but we're certainly praying for a peaceful resolution. I rarely listen to the lyrics I just let the mewsic move me so I don't have to worry about the artist's song influencing me with his/her political opinions. :) Your mewsic does give me a case of the boogie woogie fever. It's always fabulous hitting the dance floor with you, my friend! ;)
