Thanksgiving - #SkywatchFriday

Today, a look back at the skies of Thanksgiving and the day after.

I've fallen in love with this view from the parking lot of the skilled nursing facility my mother in law lived in before her death.  Thanksgiving was cold but, due to that, the sky was nice and blue.
Sundown Thursday.
Black Friday dawned (that "zero" is -17.8 Celsius, by the way).

And, as the sun rose, the moon (the white blob to the left of the streetlight) set.

Seconds later, it had almost totally disappeared.

And, by the Sunday after Thanksgiving, it had warmed up and the clouds were back.

  1. Great photos as always. But OMG it’s cold in your neck of the woods.

  2. Though it is not as cold here - hovering around 32F - the skies are a beautiful blue. On days with warmer temperatures, like today - cloudy skies and rain!
    Have a wonderful weekend!

  3. I love the picture of sunrise. I don't often see it but whenever I do I always notice the beautiful colors in the sky.

  4. Yikes... feels like -10!!!? Way too cold for me. I love it when sunrise and moonset (or moonrise and sunset) happen around the same time.

  5. Ah, got all of this a little earlier in Michigan. Really really cold when I flew into Detroit late Wednesday night, little warmer on Thanksgiving, and then absolutely beautiful on Friday morning for my annual Escape from Black Friday.

I'm so sorry about your mother-in-law. I'm glad you found something beautiful in her last days.
