First, a couple of recent earworms.
From 1983: Come Dancing, by the Kinks. Both the lyrics and video are so nostalgic.
Goodbye Stranger, from Supertramp. Supertramp is a group I loved so much when they were big here in the United States. I love their songs when I come across them but, for some reason, I don't seek them out. And that album cover brings back strong emotions now, years later.
The 70's group America is coming to Binghamton in July! We aren't on the normal concert tours for a number of reasons but now I'm wondering if I should buy tickets for this one. In honor, I am not going to pick one of their big hits, but, rather, one of my favorite songs of theirs.
America - Only in Your Heart
Let It Be by the Beatles.
Time after Time by Cyndi Lauper.
Last but not least, Blue Oyster Cult's - (Don't Fear) The Reaper. There is some controversy to this song, but I have loved it from the very first time I heard it, in a car in Wichita Falls, Texas, in 1976. This song also led to one of the funniest skits in Saturday Night Live history - unfortunately that seems to be taken down every time someone puts it up. So here is the original.
Please come back tomorrow for my Blogging from A to Z "wrap-up" post.
Great choices as always.
ReplyDeleteI read somewhere that people who go to concerts live longer. So go and enjoy.
The only thing missing from the Blue Oyster Cult video is a little more cow bell! America is a group that many of us forget about. Groups with a soft sound often get lost in the shuffle. Very nice music set today. Thanks for sharing your earworms with us.
ReplyDeleteThese were great choices and put me in a great mood. (I could quibble with your America choice- there are so many better ones... but...)
ReplyDeleteThanks for giving me a Monday smile.
What a great playlist. Love all of the songs.
ReplyDeleteThose are some interesting choices. I may have picked up some of your "earworms" now.
ReplyDeleteWow, you have a great line up here girlfriend! I haven't heard some of these tunes in ages. Great job you totally rocked the house. Gotta say my favorites are Cindy Lauper and Blue Oyster Cult. Woo hoo Rock on!
ReplyDeleteThose are all familiar tunes. Thanks for the concert! ☺ The Kinks are a largely underrated band, IMO. Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteAlana! I knew I would be so thrilled to come to your music post this week! You never fail to deliver. GREAT set here. So many memories packed into one little post.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE LOVE LOVE Supertramp. In fact, just yesterday I was on my way home from physical therapy and "Bloody Well Right" came on the radio and it was still playing when I pulled into the driveway. I sat in the car in the driveway jamming out with the volume cranked so high I think the neighbors 3 doors down could hear it. Supertramp brings back so so many memories. My favorite album is Crime of the Century but Breakfast in America is right up there with it.
That was a cool video for Cyndi Lauper's song. At first I thought she was holding a real dog and I thought to myself, "That poor dog is being held against his will, he's so stiff." haha "Time After Time" reminds me of my last two years of college.
Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't Fear the Reaper" is another one that never gets old. I saw them in concert: they were the opening band for the headlining Black Sabbath. It was called the "Black and Blue Tour" if you remember it.
I featured this song sometime ago and also posted the "More Cowbell" SNL skit which is so dang funny. And what a shelf-life that skit has had. One of SNL's most memorable and most talked about skit. And you're right, every time the skit gets posted online, it gets brought down. Why?? Why the heck can't it be online like so many others? I don't get it. There are tons of SNL skits on YouTube; Why not this one? I would love it if someone could answer that for me.
It's great to be back hanging with the 4M gang. Thanks for touching base with me via email during my "down-time". I appreciated that so much.
Thanks for providing a rush of memories this morning. And for sure, they are all earworms!
have a great week,
Michele at Angels Bark
Love the choices. So much great music here today. I really enjoyed moving and grooving along. Sorry to be a bit late with the comments, but it's been an insane month.
