It's the first Monday of 2023, and it's time for music!
Who are the Music Moves Me bloggers? We are bloggers who blog about music each Sunday or Monday and if you have music to share with us, you are most welcome to join! (Music Posts Only-meaning at least one music video, please!) Our head hostess is Cathy from Curious as a Cathy, and she is joined by the knowledgeable Stacy of Stacy Uncorked and (last but not least) me.
Why
not join our music loving folks? It's so easy. All you have to do is
join the linky above with a music post that contains at least one music
video. Without a music video, the post may be removed, or may be labeled *NO
MUSIC*.
Starting today, Cathy is changing up themes a little. Every other week (including this week) is Free Choice, and on non-free choice weeks, we invite anyone (that means anyone) to suggest a theme. There are still weeks without themes available for someone to suggest a theme for. The 2023 themes so far can be found here.
For today's free choice, I am choosing some songs about endings or beginnings. After all, we are starting a new year.
1998's Closing Time, from Semisonic, in a way, is a song about both beginnings and endings. This has been stuck in my ears for the last week or so.
Goodbye Stranger, a 1979 Supertramp hit, was one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite albums, Breakfast in America.
I love this song so. In The End from Linkin Park was a 2001 hit for the group.
And now, for some beginnings.
We've Only Just Begun from The Carpenters, may be a 1970 song but the lyrics, and Karen Carpenter's voice, are timeless. RIP, Karen.
Beginnings - Chicago, from 1969.
I Can See Clearly Now - Johnny Nash, from 1972, has been covered so many times, but I am picking the original today.
Finally, let's wrap up with New Morning from Bob Dylan.
And that's the first wrap of the year!
Join me again next week for another episode of Music Moves Me. It will be worth your time, because I am choosing the theme!
See you then.
...quite a mix!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love Breakfast in America
ReplyDeleteGreat tunes! Only a couple that were unfamiliar. When I graduated, every class was choosing 'We've Only Just Begun' for their song. Such memories!
ReplyDeleteThat's a nice list. As for me, I've been listening to Ian and Sylvia these last few days, a love for which I can thank my college roommate. Sadly, we just lost Ian but the music lives on.
ReplyDeleteSo many great songs! A few I don't know as usual but then I listen and some become new favorites.
ReplyDeleteGreat tunes. Happy New Year to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome ending/beginning mix! Some were new to me, so thanks for that! ;) Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteYou picked a great theme and some excellent songs! Great start to 2023!
ReplyDeleteThese are great songs! Thank you for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteObviously, The Carpenters and Chicago are in my wheelhouse. I was in my early 20's when they topped the charts. I really liked Semisonic and SuperTramp as well. Great start to a new year. Have a blessed week.
ReplyDeleteAlana,
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, my friend! I like your theme this week. You picked some good songs to say goodbye to the old year and hello to the new year. I think Super Tramp might be my favorite of all of these. :) Have a boogietastic week, my dear!
Dear Alana,
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely selection.
Wishing you a blessed 2023. :)
