Every other week has a theme. Today's theme was picked by me: Spring begins today in the Northern Hemisphere and fall in the Southern. Pick songs about spring (or fall, depending on where you live) or that have Spring (or fall) in the title.
It's only March, but we can dream about April in Paris. This song was written in 1932 for a Broadway play called Walk a Little Faster. It's been covered many times and I've chosen a cover sung by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong in 1956.With spring comes major league baseball. 1985's Centerfield was perhaps the best song ever written about baseball. Let's join John Fogerty on the field.Season Suite: Spring, from John Denver.
Spring is Here - Carly Simon, to me, has an old fashioned sound, which, to me, is a good thing.
I Can See Clearly Now - Johnny Nash may not be strictly about spring time, but we can look forward to some bright, bright sunshiny days where the rainbows appear come spring, can't we?
Let's end with a song inspired by the thought of spring - The Beatles and Here Comes the Sun.
And that's a wrap!
Join me again next week for another episode of Music Moves Me.
...spring looks hopeful here this morning.
ReplyDeleteLooks like spending time in Centerfield is a popular spring pastime for many of us. Actually, I played right field, but baseball is a game I love. Great playlist. Have a blessed week.
ReplyDeleteI love your list. We picked one of the same songs. And I should have included Centerfield in my list.
ReplyDeleteAh, some of these feel like spring sunshine. Thanks
ReplyDeleteAlana,
ReplyDeleteBoy, oh boy, am I ever glad it's spring again! True, it surely didn't feel like this morning when I got up and it's still cool out but I know weather conditions will only improve. I'm totally "Feeling Groovy" - what a great pick! I really appreciated you submitting themes for us this month, my friend. Have a boogietastic week!
Good choices here, especiall the first two! "April in Paris" was the song Count Basie would finish his concerts with. It still amazes me that Ella and Louis sound so good together. And I'm happy that baseball season is almost upon us...
ReplyDeleteAhhhhh! The sound of satisfaction! Wonderful lineup, Alana! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteLovely spring line up. Some are popular this week but love Ella's and Louis plus John Denver.
ReplyDeleteLove them all. Well done and thank you for hosting the fun.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day and week. ♥
Great playlist. Thanks for sharing them
