It's Monday, the dog days of summer are here and it's time for music.
Who are the Music Moves Me bloggers?
We are bloggers who blog about music
each Sunday or Monday and if you have music to share with us, you are most
welcome to join! (Music Posts Only-meaning at least one music video,
please!) Our head host is Xmas Dolly, and our co-hosts are Cathy from Curious as a Cathy, joined by the knowledgeable Stacy of Stacy Uncorked and Yours Truly.
Why not join our music loving folks? It's so easy. All you have to do is join the linky above with a music post that contains at least one music video. No music video? Your post may be removed, or may be labeled *NO MUSIC*.
Today's theme is picked for us by Songbird at Songbird's Crazy World: share songs about anything relating to summer vacation – destination, activity, transportation, etc.
Just coincidentally, I just returned from a vacation and I know others are out there exploring and having a (hopefully) good time, too. So, let's see...
I didn't leave on a jet plane, but at least two people I know did. This song isn't quite about vacation travel, but it's one of my favorites. Here's the Steve Miller band and their 1977 hit "Jet Airliner". The video I chose is combined with another song, "Threshold" at the beginning, which is how a lot of radio stations play it nowadays. This is the album version of the song, which has an expletive in it.
This is the state where I traveled to. "Massachusetts" by the Bee Gees.
We can't have Boston music without the Dropkick Murphys, so here's "I'm Shipping Up to Boston".
And, of course, we have to mention Plymouth Rock, the rock that millions have come to see over the years. (No, that's not why we came but of course we had to see it because it was there.)
If you're interested, here's a short video about the history of this boulder.
And that's a wrap.
Join me again next week, same time, same place, for another episode of Music Moves Me.
Dirty Water is quite good!
ReplyDeleteGreat playlist. Sounds like you had a great vacation!
ReplyDelete...Amanda is the only one that I know!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed listening to all of these songs except for that heavy metal one. I don't like hearing that type if voice. I find it very unsettling and depressing so I couldn't listen to it all other than that, loved the rest.
ReplyDeleteI do love this playlist and I have been to Boston it's an amazing place. My sister was working in New York, I visited her and we had five days in New York and five days in Boston. We did the Harbour, the slave trail, Natukket, Cape Cod, Plymouth and much more we loved it ! I even drove a Duck in Boston! ππ
ReplyDeleteI never knew that was an actual song at the beginning of "Jet Airliner." Good set!
ReplyDeleteSo many good ones here. The only one I didn't know was the Dropkick Murphys. (Really not what I was expecting with the Celtic vibes that it started out with!) Totally fun!
ReplyDeleteYou were in my home state! Great song choices. I actually wrote a blog post once about Dirty Water.

ReplyDeleteBrings back some great memories.
ReplyDeleteGreat classic songs. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteOh what a great playlist you made, Alana. We enjoyed all the songs, especially the BeeGees and the 80ties. I'm shipping of to Boston is amazing! We didn't know that song yet and to be honest, we didn't expect that it was such a havy one...MOL...but really great song. Double Pawkisses for a Happy Weekend and dance onππΎπ½π
