September 15 already...it's time for Garden Bloggers Bloom Day.
It's been dry in my zone 6a garden in the Southern Tier, and my plants look just a bit - tired? Perhaps they feel the decreasing daylight, despite the warm temperatures, and know that their time is almost up. But besides that, I have an issue with one of my knees, and there has been not too much weeding done this year.
Also, either squirrels or chipmunks have been digging in my flowerpots, Yes, I know they have the instinct to bury nuts for the winter, but do they have to try to kill my plants, too? Sigh.
But I still have plenty of flowers to show you. First, my front bed.
My sedum is coloring up nicely.Garlic chives are thriving among the weeds.
My two tall phlox is petering out, but I have a few blooms left to show you. First, dark pink.Light pink.
Yellow lantana.
The sweet peas are out of control this year, spreading everywhere and are still flowering sporadically. I didn't have the time to take care of their pea pods so I'm sure they will reseed profusely. Next year I may have a lot of pulling to do.
In the back yard, red fuchsia.Zig-zag goldenrod. (I should point out here that all of my wildflowers were procured from wildflower nurseries or growers.)
Pink turtlehead.
Coral bells. Finally, there is one flower missing, my Japanese Anemone. None of the flowers have opened yet, alas.
But if you want to see more flowers, how about visiting the owner of this meme, Carol at May Dreams Gardens , to see her flowers and other gardening blogs from all over the world?
...Alana, you still have some lovely blooms!
ReplyDeleteIt always surprises me when sedum colours up so late in the season. However, there are plenty of bees still around to benefit from it.
ReplyDeleteLove that sedum. And the phlox. And, well, everything - happy Bloom Day.
ReplyDeleteAlana-you do have a collection of blooms to show and they are all lovely! Your Sedum is especially colorful this time of year! Happy Bloom Day!
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are so gorgeous
ReplyDeleteBeautiful
ReplyDeleteOhhh, pink turtlehead. I'd like to grow that one, but not sure I have enough moisture for it. Especially the last two summers. I love the phlox too, I finally got some to bloom, but the deer won't leave it alone.
ReplyDeleteSorry your knee has been bothering you. Not the best thing for a gardener.
ReplyDeleteAlana, your pink turtleheads are lovely! I planted some in my garden last year, but the plants got eaten to the ground by deer, so no flowers--they're just starting to re-grown now. Do you do anything to keep the deer in your area away? You have so many beautiful blooms!
ReplyDeleteElena, I am fortunate - we have few problems with deer, perhaps because we are in a semi-urban area (although they have been seen in my neighborhood from time to time). I hope it stays that way. Most people I know have lots of problems with deer and it seems very little works for them except not to grow their favorites. And so many beautiful plants are their favorites!
DeleteYour sedum is so pretty. I like garlic chive blossoms more than the onion. Not so showy (but are close up), and of course, flower now instead of first of the spring blooms.
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are getting crisp, but still lovely. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful flower garden! These brightly vibrant colors definitely make the spirit sigh a big Awww. The first day of autumn is less than a week away. This summer has just vanished. I don't like the heat but I like far less how time seemingly evaporates.
ReplyDeleteIncidentally, I sent ypu am email earlier today. I sent you a photo-edir of the picture you shared in your 4M post. Hopefully you got it. 😘
I'm sorry your knee is giving you problems. I hope it'll pass without causing you any further difficulties. I say a prayer for you, darling!
