It's Monday and it's time to meet up once again with other music lovers for Music Moves Me.
Who are the Music Moves Me bloggers? We are bloggers who blog about music each Sunday or Monday and if you have music to share with us, you are most welcome to join! (Music Posts Only-meaning at least one music video, please!) Our head hostess is Cathy from Curious as a Cathy, and she is joined by the knowledgeable Stacy of Stacy Uncorked and (last but not least) me.

With the death last week of Queen Elizabeth II, I wondered what music out there mentioned kings, queens, princes, princesses, or even royals. I can include artist names with similar connections.
Dancing Queen - Abba.
Killer Queen - Queen.
Any Disney Princess lovers out there? Here's Adriana Caselotti singing "Some Day My Prince Will Come" from the 1937 movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
You wouldn't know from the title, but the Coldplay song Viva La Vida is about King Louis XVI, who ruled France until the French revolution.
David Bowie and Heroes, a song I love so much.
Interestingly, this 2013 song, Royals by Lorde, came to mind right away, although it was named after the Kansas City Royals (a baseball team). The song isn't about baseball, though. It's an entirely different message, maybe by some kind of royalty.
Before I wrap up, a couple of bonus songs if you have a time. Both are long.
The rock legend Prince also came to mind. Here's a live performance of his song Purple Rain with The Revolution.
Finally, it turns out that quite a number of rock legends performed for Queen Elizabeth II at her Platinum Jubilee earlier this year. Here are Adam Lambert and Brian May of Queen and portions of their performance.

ReplyDeleteI heard about the Queen passing Sep 9th when we were checking into our motel room that Friday. We didn't have the radio on much while we drove up. After it got dark, I use Google a lot to navigate. Good golly, we thought we had things figured out going along the edge of NYC but what a nightmare! On the way home, we managed to avoid that mess. Anywho, it seems every time we go on vacation someone dies. In 2004, it was the passing of President Reagan. Great music tribute!
