Ravishing Ravenel #AtoZChallenge #SkywatchFriday

I love this bridge with all my heart.  It is the topic of today's Blogging from A to Z Challenge and Skywatch Friday.

I travel back, in time and space, to walk it in my dreams.
The Ravenel Bridge (aka the Cooper River Bridge) connects Charleston, South Carolina and Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.  I have walked its full length once and have walked it partially a number of times.

I even blogged about it at least once before for the Blogging from A to Z Challenge, but why not blog about it again?

Five years ago, before I lost weight, the bridge conquered my knee.  After losing almost 35 pounds, I succeeded.  It's now been two years since I last visited Charleston, and I would love to test myself against the bridge again.  Alas, if I do visit Charleston this year, it will be in August, and the heat may prevent my attempt.

But one day...I'll be back.  That's a promise.

Connect with other bloggers at Skywatch Friday and see skies from all over the world.

"R" day on the Blogging from A to Z Challenge, as I travel through time and space.

  1. It's a beautiful bridge. And it does sound challenging to walk it. I can do five miles on flat land, not sure how I'd be able to cope with the incline.

  2. What a stunning bridge. We don't have any as long as that in S.Africa. R is Regarding Research as you Build a Better Blog. #AtoZchallenge.

  3. I have always wanted to walk the bridge between the lower and upper peninsula of Michigan, but now the Charleston bridge is closer. Do they allow walking all the time?

  4. My favorite is closer to where you grew up- the Brooklyn Bridge.

  5. The Ravenel Bridge is reallllly long. My husband and I once walked from our hotel, Charleston Harbor and Marina, to the bridge and tried to get to the middle of it before sunrise. We barely made it. They do have a pretty park underneath, though. I always love driving over the Arthur Ravenel; it is so pretty. :)

Great shots of the bridge at sunset! :)

  7. I'm glad you succeeded at least once and hope you get the chance to do it again. It's such a pretty setting, perfect for a long walk.

  8. Pretty bridge. You'll conquer it. Maybe it'll be a mild day in August.

  9. What a beautiful bridge! I like walking on the George Washington Bridge. Another bridge that was great to walk on is a very big pedestrian bridge, the Poughkeepsie-Highland Railroad bridge over the Hudson River. It's the longest elevated bridge in the world and, as an added bonus... no cars! No motor vehicles of any kind! I'm usually terrified of bridges but a car-free bridge removes all fear!
