It's Monday, it's "C" day in the Blogging from A to Z Challenge, and it's time for Music! Today, I'm adding a little chocolate to the mix, because no celebration is complete without chocolate. (If you are only interested in chocolate, scroll down to the bottom, but I hope you'll stay for the music, too.)
Who are the Music Moves Me bloggers? We are bloggers who blog about music each Monday and if you have music to share with us, you are most welcome to join! (Music Posts Only-meaning at least one music video, please!) Our incomparable XmasDolly, who has not been feeling well, has decided to step back from hosting - please keep her in your thoughts. We hope she can join us again one day soon.
Our hostess now is the one and only Cathy from Curious as a Cathy. She is joined by the knowledgeable Stacy of Stacy Uncorked, and little ol' me. But I also give a
shoutout to all those bloggers who participate in Music Moves Me. Thank you!
We'd
love more music lovers to join our fun group. All you have to do is
join the linky above with a music post that contains at least one music
video (there must be a music video). That's it!
Each month, except December, we have a guest conductor. For the month of April, our guest conductor is none other than ME!
For today, I am choosing the theme "Songs about birthdays or other
celebrations, and it would be great if you could also include a Led Zeppelin song in honor of a family
member’s upcoming 70th birthday". That family member loves Led Zeppelin, but if you don't, hey, just wish that person a Happy Birthday!
Because this is "C" day for A to Z, all my songs (or the artist/band name) have to begin with a C. (I'm going to Cheat on one of the songs because I want to include it.) My first selection is Champions (We are The),which is the slightly mangled title of a song by Queen. Sorry about that, Queen!
Celebration by Kool and the Gang is a natural for my theme. I am choosing a version by Playing for Change, celebrating Children all over the world.
At my son's elementary school, the Vitamin C song "Graduation (Friends Forever)" was played at - you guessed it - graduations. The singer Vitamin's C's real name is Colleen Fitzpatrick.
Speaking of son's elementary school years, Chumbawamba's song "Tubthumping" was played at various celebrations, an interesting selection given that some lyrics refer to drinking and what happens when you drink too much.
How about one more? It's time for Led Zeppelin!
For my Led Zeppelin selection, I am choosing a long song, and I hope you like it. "Carouselambra" is from their " In Through the Out Door" album. I like that entire album, and I enjoy the different musical styles in this musical selection. I think it's perfect for a celebration.
Now it's time for chocolate. What is a Celebration without Chocolate? Here are two animal statues made from chocolate. First, Cocoa the Chocolate Bear from The Village Peddler and Chocolatorium in East Arlington, Vermont. And what would Vermont be without moose? A chocolate moose, to be exact? Here's Bennie, the chocolate moose, complete with his pandemic mask (picture from 2021) and a friend. Bennie lives in Bennington, Vermont at the Village Chocolate Shoppe.
That's a wrap, and that's also "C" day for the Blogging from A to Z Challenge. My theme for 2022: From Florida to Vermont With Stops In Between.
Tomorrow, one more Vermont post before I move on to Pennsylvania.
Join me again next week for more music and more A to Z!
...it's hard to beat Play for Change, what a concept!
ReplyDeleteMusic and chocolate, a great combo.
ReplyDeleteI love Celebration, but I also like We Are The Champions. Always brings back memories!
ReplyDeleteVery nice. Music and chocolate. A great combo.
ReplyDeleteThe variety here is amazing.
ReplyDeleteSome absolutely great C songs! Queen's songs always move me by getting me to move, and chocolate, well I made Keto chocolate brownies yesterday.
ReplyDeleteAll the others were very familiar, but the Led Zeppelin was unfamiliar. I wondered why. Then I realized it was because my musical go-tos were Neil Diamond, Moody Blues, Simon and Garfunkel.
ReplyDeleteGreat celebratory songs!!!
Moose doesn't make me think of Vermont, but what do I know? I think of Canada (where I've seen them), and Maine for some reason. A chocolate moose is a clever pun! I saw a chocolate bison (from Buffalo NY) with the chocolate Easter rabbits the other day. Strange.
ReplyDeleteLove the moose in the mask. I'm way too impressed by masks on inanimate objects.
ReplyDeleteGreat Pawty over here, Alana. We're big fan of Queen...and chocolate of course😸Pawkisses for a Hapy Week ahead🐾😽💞
ReplyDeleteAlana,
ReplyDeleteMy dear friend, I'm sorry for dancing with you late this week. I have my plate full and it's not due to the A2Z challenge, either. I'm busy helping DH with some things which has been an on-going job since last fall. Anyway, I really enjoyed your music. You picked some great 'C' songs for this birthday party. I send my warmest regards and best wishes for your loved one's upcoming celebration. 70 is a milestone that shouldn't be ignored. Have a boogietastic week, my darlin'!
I never heard most of these song! Interesting- and it's always time for Celebration!
