Today is a rest day in the Blogging from A to Z Challenge, and I'm struggling to find something to blog about. That's what dreary weather does to me.
If you are in the Challenge, how are you doing? Are you breezing on through? Or struggling? If the latter, please don't give up. It's well worth the time (and brain exercise) to do this challenge.
Meanwhile, in my life:
I finished a book, Sea of Tranquility, by Emily St. John Mandel, and may try my hand at a book review when A to Z permits. I'm reading a historical novel now, Booth, by Karen Joy Fowler, and there is a mystery book highly recommended by a cousin that I took out of the library, waiting to be picked up.
It's winter/spring here in the Southern Tier of New York, meaning that the weather can't make up its mind.
Is it spring? The weather thinks not. We got snow flurries and ice pellets this morning when spouse and I did our exercise walk. The wind wasn't very springlike.
Some plants think it's spring, though.
No pictures to show you, but we planted peas and lettuce the other day. I bought a seed packet with German Chamomile seeds, and I should get those planted. It's my first time growing them. I also got a packet of sweet peas free from the local library, and will have to find a place for them. (These are flowers, not peas for eating.) I've never grown them, either.
The crocuses are finishing up their bloom. This picture was taken Wednesday.
Friday in white.
We don't have snowdrops, but there was a nice patch elsewhere I took a picture of on March 24. Yesterday, they were still going.
Others have daffodils but ours are lagging behind. Yesterday, one looked ready to open. I don't feel like going out there again today to check on it.
If you like what you see, join me Friday when I participate in Garden Bloggers Bloom Day. And, if you like music, tune in tomorrow for Music Moves Me, when I (along with other bloggers) devote our blog posts to music.
What are you doing this weekend?
There’s a single daffodil blooming next to Drew’s driveway. I’m trying to figure out how it got there, he never planted daffodils.
ReplyDeleteLoving your photos as always.
...we are in a tug-a-war between winter and spring!
ReplyDeleteTaking a break from work.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
I keep thinking about reading Sea of Tranquility. I'll be interested in your take on it.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear your peas are in! Do you review on Goodreads? I have my A to Z well at hand, for the gardening blog. I need a poetry one for N this next week, and some letters later on.
ReplyDeleteSpring is here some days, gone others. Last week we had an 86 degree day, but nights still were below freezing! Not sure how that can be. I grow my sweet peas with my peas. I know they are toxic, but there is no way to mix up the pods or the stems, they are completely different. Oh, I suppose someone must have at some time or they wouldn't say not to plant them together... but, still. I like how they look together.
Lovely Crocus! Weather is definitely summer here.. no doubt about it! Its reached 40Deg C and we look to the skies for rain to cool things down. But my plants love this heat!
ReplyDeleteWe had what our very much hope will be our last snow flurries on Saturday. I had grand plans for getting a few posts scheduled over the weekend, but that didn't happen. I'm still planning to stick with the challenge.
ReplyDeleteWell, if you're looking for some summer weather, I have some to sell you ;)
