Ithaca and I Music #MusicMovesMe #AtoZChallenge

It's Monday, it's "I" day for the Blogging from A to Z Challenge, and it's also time for Music Moves Me.  A busy post, so let's get going.

Who are the Music Moves Me bloggers? We are bloggers who blog about music each Monday and if you have music to share with us, you are most welcome to join! (Music Posts Only-meaning at least one music video, please!)   Our head hostess is Cathy from Curious as a Cathy,  and she is joined by the knowledgeable Stacy of Stacy Uncorked, and little ol' me.  Our founder, Xmas Dolly, has stepped back from blogging for now, and would appreciate your good thoughts as she works through some health issues.

We'd love more music lovers to join our fun group.  All you have to do is join the linky above with a music post that contains at least one music video (there must be a music video).  That's it!

Each month, except December, we have a guest conductor. For the month of April, our guest conductor is none other than ME!

For today, I am choosing the theme "Your Choice".

In honor of the letter I, all my songs will begin with the letter "I"  But before I get into the music, some pictures taken in Ithaca, New York, the home of Cornell University and Ithaca College.  Ithaca, a city of about 32,000, is located in New York's Finger Lakes, has a number of waterfalls within its city limits, and has been the subject of at least two A to Z posts, including one last year.

This insect has been on this roof for years, and I can't seem to research why.  All I know is that the building is located on West Buffalo Street.

Runner and birds.

Finally, a photo taken at a place called Gourdlandia, which I need to blog about one day.

Ithaca is beautiful - you could say it is Gorges (although Gorges doesn't begin with "I").

And now, to our music.

First, Julian Lennon, John Lennon's son, performs his father's song "Imagine".  He once stated that he wouldn't sing this song in public unless it was the end of the world, but he felt the time was right now.

This was part of a Global Citizen social media account to raise money in support of the horrific situation in Ukraine.

Next, tribute to Bobby Rydell, who died April 5 from complications of pneumonia at the age of 79.  This song was a hit for Bobby Rydell, and was later covered by Freddie and the Dreamers and Herman's Hermits.

I'll Never Dance Again, from 1962.

From the Monkees, their 1966 song (I'm Not Your) Stepping Stone.

The Shangri-La's, and their 1966 story song "I Can Never Go Home Anymore".   I have to warn you, this is one sad song.

10cc's 1975 song "I'm Not In Love."

My final song is the 1982 hit "Industrial Disease" from Dire Straits.

And that's a wrap!

Join me again next time for another A to Z episode of Music Moves Me!

Important Note: I normally post for Music Moves Me on Mondays, but I am seriously thinking of posting this Sunday, as I am having some trouble with the theme (it's my theme, too!) and working it into the Blogging from A to Z Challenge.

"I" day in the Blogging from A to Z Challenge.  My theme: "From Florida to Vermont With Stops In Between".

  4. I heard Lennon's son sing Imagine this morning and I couldn't believe how much he sounded like his father! That song just always does something to me.

  5. Alana,

Juliana sounds a lot like John, doesn't he? I'm glad you featured him in today's line up. It's got me curious to learn what's happened with Juliana. I haven't heard anything new by him in ages. Oh, I remember "I'm Not In Love"! What a tear-jerker of a song!! It always made me so sad to listen to it and even today, it makes me a little blue. Music is a powerful thing. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!

  6. OK, now I'm going to spend an inordinate amount of my day wondering why that insect is on that roof. If you ever find out, be sure to let me know.

  7. My daughter got a double Master's Degree at Cornell. She is now a principal at her company in Boston. I have to brag. And we loved our visits to Ithaca.

  8. Even the names of your towns in New York are intriguing!
Great songs! I remember being sad for 10cc because, of course he was in love. My first experience with denial...

  9. So many fun things here to explore! I know about the roof insect though - it's a metal and glass sculpture by Jay Seaman, and it sits on the roof of a jewelry store.

  14. You've shared Ithaca before, and it's just beautiful. I've been so few places back east.
Oh, you may like to know it's snowing here! After 86 degrees last week! A lot more up north in Portland.
