Today is the first day of spring here in upstate New York, at least according to the calendar.
Forecast 3-12 - and they weren't kidding. The winds could and did. |
Will winter ever end?
It just might. I am going to share a secret with you.
I took a walk yesterday on the West Side of Binghamton, New York. And what did I see?
This.
And this.
Bulbs are starting to come out of the ground. Who knows, in a few weeks, we may actually have flowers. Ah, spring flowers - snowdrops, crocuses. Followed by early daffodils and tulips. Can we hope? Dare we dream?
Spring. Just, please, no more forecasts like this.
Yes! Hope! Dream! It IS coming, and you'll appreciate it all the more for the hard cold winter that you've had! And with all the moisture you've been blessed with, your GREEN ought to just burst forth!
ReplyDeleteIt's true we have plenty of moisture in our soil. Some bulbs are starting to sprout, and I will appreciate each and every bloom. I hope you have a wonderful spring, too, after your too-cold and not-enough-snow winter.
DeleteNo matter what happens, you'll see spring soon. Keep dreaming. By the way, I mentioned you on my blog today. Not for your wonderful blogs about gardens, nature, plants or autism--but for being my friend.

I'm honored to be your friend. I've never been the friend of a soon to be famous person before. I'll hope for a lovely spring for both of us.
DeleteOh Alana, I share your hope that we can put winter behind us! It snowed here last night and the school had a two hour delay. This is the longest winter that I can remember!
ReplyDeleteYou are right-it has been too long, and I am hoping the Northeast United States will see spring soon. It can't come soon enough for both of us.
