Hatch Chile Cookies #WordlessWednesday

Would you ever bake cookies with Hatch chile peppers in them?

I don't know if these cookies actually have Hatch chile peppers in there, but I wouldn't be surprised.  Here, these chiles are sold for a limited time (a week or less) in August.

This is what they look like.  They are grown in a limited area of New Mexico, where the soil and climate are just right.

Turns out there are a lot of Hatch chile products out there, and I did find a recipe for Hatch chile chocolate chip cookies.  Would you try it?

  1. I have had Hatch chiles in recipes, but do not think I would want them in my cookies. Would you dip them in milk to cut the heat?

  2. Probably not a cookie Mom would actually love but it might be worth a taste.

  3. I think they would be quite a shock to the system.

  5. I might. There are chocolates with hot peppers and it is not my everyday choice, but interesting to taste.

  7. I like Hatch chiles, they aren't too hot - maybe they'd be fine in cookies? I would try a bite, but I'm thinking not a "go to" cookie. :)

  8. Not if the chiles are hot. I don't do spicy. At all. I can see how some would appreciate a bit of heat in their cookies. It seems they put heat in so many things nowadays.

  9. I don't like spicy stuff but an interesting idea.

  10. Chile cookies? No, I don't think so. Chile certainly has it uses but I wouldn't say that an ingredient in cookie dough is one of them.

  11. I like chilies and chocolate as a novelty, and would try them if sure they were gluten-free. They would not be my favorites, though.
