It's Monday, and it's time for music.
Today I am joining up with other Music Moves Me bloggers (and you can join us at the linky above). We are a group of music loving bloggers who blog about music each Sunday or Monday (or even later in the week). If you have music to share with us, you are most welcome to join! (Music Posts Only-meaning at least one music video, please! Otherwise, your post link may be labeled "No Music" or even removed.)
Our head host is Xmas Dolly, and our co-hosts are Cathy from Curious as a Cathy, joined by the knowledgeable Stacy of Stacy Uncorked and, last but not least, me.
Every other week we have a theme, and this is one of those weeks. Today, our theme is "You Pick". But first:
The Beach Boys performing a medley of their hits with Jimmy Buffet and John Stamos, from the 2018 Capital Fourth.
Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, at the 2014 Capital Fourth. (There are several songs here: Grease, Can't Take My Eyes off of You, Let's Hang On).
Finally, it's an abridged version, but a tradition at a Capital Fourth is the War of 1812 Overture. You might think: what does an 1880 musical piece composed by a Russian to celebrate the defeat of Napoleon by the Russians in the war of 1812. Well, as they like to say, it's complicated. (note, this link has some political commentary but most of it isn't). What I like about this is that it's a full choral version of the last four or so minutes complete with cannons - and fireworks! It's a wonderful way to conclude today's post.
So that's a wrap!
Join me again next week for another episode of Music Moves Me.
Thanks for the concert! You have a little bit of everything, here. ☺ Weird Al is always hilarious and I love the 1812 Overture! Must be the cannons. Lots of drama.
ReplyDeleteThe 1812 is a stirring way to start the week.
ReplyDelete...something that I have never watched.
ReplyDeleteI had much the same kind of dental work done a few months back. I go back in September to place the new dentures on the implants. It's an expensive process. This year we went to the local minor league park and enjoyed their fireworks show. We have enjoyed the PBS broadcast in years past, but there's nothing quite like seeing a good display live. Have a blessed week.
ReplyDeleteWe watch Capitol 4th every year. I thought this year’s show was good, but Mike Love should probably retire at this point.
ReplyDeleteYou've done it again - an interesting post, as always.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to read about your dental woes. DH has had a number of implants done over the years. Bone grafting is done I know in the event you have an implant. I have two bridges on my opposite sides of my lower arch. If your the teeth that will be include in the bridge are not already crowned, you may want to consider doing an implant. You have to care for crowned teeth every bit if not more so as real teeth. Stuff can get underneath the crowns decaying what's left. Logically it seems to me an implant would be simpler but I know they are also pricey. That being said, if down the round you ever need fillings or root canal work to any of your teeth under the bridge then that get expensive, too. That's what happened with me as you may remember. Ugh! Dental problems and the repairs are never fun.
ReplyDeleteWe watched a little of the Capital 4th this year and it was really nice. I love that they focused at the beginning of the different branches of the military coming into being, as well as those who have served over the years to preserve our freedom. I felt that added a real special patriotic element to the celebration. That's the way we should remember Independence Day, our ancestors fighting to protect their/our home. Concluding with the 1812 Overture with those loud booming cannons charges my American pride. God bless the USA!
Fabulous job, Alana. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!! xo
Those were great.
ReplyDeleteI went with an implant, which is now loose and has to be tightened. I wish I had gone with the bridge...
ReplyDeleteVery enjoyable! I am partial to Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops
