The Bringers of Spring #WordlessWednesday

Most fall and winter months are silent.  The birds are focused on survival through the winter.  Finding food and shelter don't depend on birdsong.

But, sometime in February, something stirs in them, and bird song is heard once more.

By March 22, it was in full concert mode.  This screenshot was taken from the free app Merlin.

Some of our summer birds have returned to where I live in the Southern Tier of New York.  Others will return in the coming weeks, and the Dark-eyed Junco will be leaving soon for its northern breeding grounds.

With a bird song in my heart, I join Sandee at Comedy Plus for her #WordlessWednesday.

  5. The change in the last couple of weeks has been quite dramatic. I am greeted by a virtual symphony of birdsong when I venture into the backyard these days.

  8. It's so lovely to hear the birds singing, especially if the sun is shining at the same time. We've just had a heavy hailstorm - the birds took cover.

  9. I like that you know so many things about birds! And I would try also to check the application with songs.
Happy WW, Alana! A fine week! ❤️😘

  10. It is lovely to hear the birds singing again. There is a little robin who sits on the phone line outside my window, and he sings away to me every morning.
