Today, I am participating in a new link up hosted by Parul Thakur at Happiness and Food.
In some parts of the world, trees are blooming and the hot weather has
come. But here, in upstate New York, the snow has only melted in the
past few days.
On Saturday, I walked in a local park, Otsiningo Park, and took this picture. I don't know what type of tree this is but many could identify it from its bark.
Let me take a quote from Parul's blog:
"Trees are poems that the earth writes upon the sky." ― Kahlil Gibran
Three strong trunks, pruned (possibly due to prior storm damage), and yet the tree lives on, sending up hundreds of sprouts in a flurry of poetry. Soon enough, this tree will wake up from its winter's nap and take in the sun once more. But, not yet. There's just something special about a tree without its leaves.
Do you love trees? If you do, visit Happiness and Food and post one of the photos you love.
Note: in April, I will be participating in the Blogging from A to Z Challenge - join me at Thursday Tree Love again in May.
Welcome! I hope I bring a spot of calm and happiness into these uncertain times. I blog about my photography adventures, flowers, gardening, the importance of chocolate in a well lived life, or anything else on my mind.

I always love trees when they are leaf-laden. The stark look of the winter months leaves me cold. (Pun intended.)
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see you join in for the #ThursdayTreeLove, Alana. I agree with you, there is something special about this tree with its bare trunks, still alive after the rest of it is gone. How resilient trees are, I wonder to withstand so much weathering and harshness and yet, surviving the odds, waiting for spring to arrive. How admirable that it is not giving in as easily as we human are prone to do, I guess!
ReplyDeleteThanks for alerting me to this new blog. I have seen trees trimmed like the one you show and was told they do that otherwise the tree would blow over in the wind cause it gets too top heavy. Never saw that name before.
ReplyDelete"I think that I shall never see a poem as lovely as a tree".
ReplyDeleteI live in the woods. Literally. If I didn't love trees, I'd probably go crazy.
There are a lot of special things about a tree without leaves. Loved that picture. So unique.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for joining!
I love bare tree branches, and I love seeing them when little leaves start sprouting. And of course, I love them when they are full - leaves, flowers, birds; and then when the leaves fall off. I guess, the point of this rambling comment, is that I absolutely love trees in all their shapes and forms.
ReplyDeletePlease take a picture of this tree when it's awoken from winter. I'd love to see a comparison.
ReplyDeleteGlad to discovered your blog through #ThursdayTreeLove. Loving the posts here.
