One of the first wildflowers I noticed in the late spring after I moved back to New York State over 30 years ago was this one. At that time, these flowers bloomed in early June.
Now, they bloom in mid May.
This is Dame's Rocket, also known as Sweet Rocket, or Hesperis matronalis, an invasive plant not native to the United States. It comes in several shades of pink and purple. Although it looks like garden phlox, it is not.
Although I have a sweet spot in my heart for this plant, it is not something that belongs in a garden.

Very pretty!
ReplyDelete...it's a sweetie!
ReplyDeleteThey are most beautiful, but invasive isn't something you want in your garden.

very pretty, but you're right, it does not belong in a garden.
ReplyDeleteIf a flower shows up in my garden I usually leave it be- unless of course it's a dandelion! Have a splendid day!

ReplyDeleteI don't know if this plant is useful or not, but the one with purple flowers is very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHave a fine day!
It may not be her place in the garden, but the plant has beautiful flowers. 😊
