It's Monday. Once again it's time for music.
Let's introduce the Music Moves Me bloggers.
We blog about music
each Sunday or Monday and if you have music to share with us, you are most
welcome to join! (Music Posts Only-meaning at least one music video,
please!) Our head host is Xmas Dolly, and our co-hosts are Cathy from Curious as a Cathy, joined by the knowledgeable Stacy of Stacy Uncorked and yours truly.
You are welcome to join our Monday music group. It's so easy. All you have to do is join the linky above but your post must contain at least one music video. No music video? Your post may be removed, or may be labeled *NO MUSIC*.
This month our guest host is Cathy from Curious as a Cathy and her theme for this week is "songs relating to darkness/night."
We are not night creatures, and night and darkness may be scary times.
Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Music of the Night from the play Phantom of the Opera.
Here is a classic song from 1927 that has been covered countless times. I've chosen a1962 cover of Me and My Shadow, sung by Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr.
Night time can be a time of first times.
Or it can be night fever time, as sung by the Bee Gees in their 1978 hit Night Fever.
Darkness Descends is an instrumental from Midnight Syndicate. Don't think a harp can be an instrument of horror? Think again.
Let's do one more.
Ronnie James Dio (born Ronnie James Padavona) was a local boy who grew up in Cortland, New York. He played in various bands, including Black Sabbath, before co-forming the band Dio. He was inducted into Rock and Roll Heaven in 2010 at the age of 67. The cause of death was stomach cancer.
Finally, from 1983, the metal band Dio and their hit "Rainbow in the Dark".
And that is a wrap.
Join me again next week for another episode of Music Moves Me.
Cool playlist. I especially liked the songs about shadows …
ReplyDeleteNight fever sounds good
ReplyDelete...Dio is new for me.
ReplyDeleteThis post reminds me of Frank Sinatra's famous song: " Strangers in the night". The word 'night' appears a lot , especially in the refrain.
ReplyDeleteWow! Great list today. Some serious favorites!!!
ReplyDeleteLove how you picked Dio. Such a great choice.
ReplyDeleteSome great stuff here! Sammy and Frank was the best!
ReplyDeleteI still love Night Fever! Wonderful melody.
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff... and surprised I favored Dio since I generally like dark, moody music.
ReplyDeleteGirlfriend, you are hot today! Many tunes I love that's for sure! Four Seasons, Bee Gees, girlfriend I was groovin' today with ya. Don't worry about the ghouls & goblins we get enough of them in our computers!!! ahahahaha have a great day! HUGS
ReplyDeleteGreat list of tunes here. I like that harp! Frank and Sammy are perfect. Phantom is perfect for this theme. Michael Crawford played the Phantom and its hard for me be ause I know him as a bumbling oaf in "A Funny Thong Happened on the Way to the Forum." He was also in a British TV show where he played a goofy guy. It was quite funny.
ReplyDeleteSome scary mewsic here...but excellent for the occassion😸Frankie Valli brought back memories and we always love the BeeGees💗Double Pawkisses for a Happy Day and week ahead🐾😽💞
ReplyDeleteOH WHAT A NIGHT!!
ReplyDelete"Night Fever" is a great throwback song! Darkness Descends is an excellent instrumental for the spooky season. Great picks!
