Skywatch Friday - Dance of the ????

Late October and early November in upstate New York.  In the Binghamton, New York area, I'm able to see the dawn as I travel to work.

You can see some strange things at sunrise.

I don't know what these contrail like ropy, dancing things going straight up and down were.  It isn't smoke. Contrails?  I've never seen something quite like this, almost like they are dancing.

This, taken just before sunrise on Halloween (October 31) morning, was more normal (and dramatic).

Come visit other blogs today for  Skywatch Friday, where you can see dramatic sky pictures from all over the world.

Day 4 of NaBloPoMo.

    1. I think I've more or less decided not to continue with NaNoWriMo. I just don't have the "fire in the belly" this time but I may still add to the manuscript from time to time.

  4. I should go up and watch the sunrise more often. I always like it wen I do.

    1. I don't watch the sunrise that much except during the time of year when it coincides with my waking or traveling to work. I always like it, too, but I don't like getting up before I need to wake up.

  5. Whatever those ropy dancing things are, they add so much movement and interest to the sky. Beautiful.

    1. I still haven't figured out what they are. But it sure was unusual.

  6. Those are strange looking contrails. I wonder what caused them.

  7. Beautiful shots. Our skies look like that at this time of year. Central B.C., Canada.
