It's Monday, it's summer, and it's time for music!
Who are the Music Moves Me bloggers? We are bloggers who blog about music each Monday and if you have music to share with us, you are most welcome to join! (Music Posts Only-meaning at least one music video, please!) Our head hostess is Cathy from Curious as a Cathy, and she is joined by the knowledgeable Stacy of Stacy Uncorked and (last but not least) me.
Our founder, Marie aka Xmas Dolly, has stepped back from blogging for now, and would appreciate your good thoughts as she works through some health issues. The latest word from Marie is that she hopes to return to occasional blogging sometime this month.
We'd
love more music lovers to join our music loving group. All you have to do is
join the linky above with a music post that contains at least one music
video (there must be a music video or your post will be subject to removal or labeling "No Music"). So easy!
Each month, except December, we have a guest host. For August, we again welcome Adventures in Weseland.
His theme for this week
is "The Dog Days of Summer - Songs about Summer Heat". Now, that I'm an expert on, both from my childhood and my adult days in Florida, Texas, Kansas and Arkansas.
I grew up in New York City, and these were some of my favorite childhood songs:
Lovin' Spoonful - Summer in the City, from 1966. We had a heat wave in July; on July 3 we reached 103 degrees F, the hottest day since August of 1948. I can still remember trying to sleep the night of July 2.
The Kinks-Sunny Afternoon. I guess 1966 was a good year. Maybe a little off topic, but it mentions summer afternoons and beer, and I love the lyrics.
I can't neglect the 80's, so here's Bananarama and Cruel Summer from 1984.
One more, this time from 1991: D.J. and the Jazzy Prince - Summertime. I love this video.
And that's a wrap!
Next week, I'll be posting my music on Sunday, August 14, as Monday, August 15 is Garden Bloggers Bloom Day. See you Sunday for more music!
I had a couple of these. Good choices!
ReplyDelete...I know and enjoy all of them except the last two.
ReplyDeleteAlana,
ReplyDeleteLovin' Spoonful "Hot Time in the City" is a classic we all know and love. You went with a few other great songs, too. The 80s is now the new oldies but it sure doesn't feel that way to me. Bananarama "Cruel Summer" seems like only yesterday it hit the radio. Will Smith I think is the only rapper I tolerate but I prefer him as an actor. :) Great song set, my friend. Have a boogietastic wee!
Great choices. I love Bananarama’s song.
ReplyDeleteGreat choices. Most of your songs this week took me to a fun memory.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great playlist. Very good.
ReplyDeleteNice list. I like Summer in the City. Now it's stuck in my head!
ReplyDeleteExcellent list. At Aqua Zumba class, we do a routine to "Hot, Hot, Hot" that's fun. It's by Buster Poindexter.
ReplyDeleteThe first four are among my all time favorites. The fifth tickled my memory- but I never heard the last one.
