The magnolias are at the end of their blooming season in upstate New York.
A week ago they were just starting.
By the weekend, they were in full bloom. Their blooms are beloved as they are so big. Many also enjoy their fragrance.
But they are dropping now, carpeting the ground. My guest photographer has captured the essence of a magnolia carpet.
Here today, gone tomorrow.
Look quickly and appreciate, or you will miss the show.
Welcome! I hope I bring a spot of calm and happiness into these uncertain times. I blog about my photography adventures, flowers, gardening, the importance of chocolate in a well lived life, or anything else on my mind.

On neighbor's magnolia was stunning while the house next to him has a magnolia that looks basically dead. I am waiting for my crabapples to bloom.
ReplyDeleteI remember the magnolia bush (it never was quite a tree) on our front lawn and its "flash in a pan" colors.
ReplyDeleteThese blooms are so pretty!!! Loved the pink hues! <3
ReplyDeleteAwesome Magnolia carpet!
ReplyDeleteThe mention of Magnolia made me recollect the poem, Mr Magnolia by Quentin Blake. Its one very light, hilarious poem. However I can see that Mr Magnolia has nothing in common with the Magnolia flowers.
Love magnolias! Beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteOh, they're so beautiful! Maybe that's why we love flowers so much. The best ones are here for just a tiny breath . . .
ReplyDeleteMagnolias are beautiful, even as ground carpet.
ReplyDeleteInteresting way of describing it ("carpet").
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pics Alana. I have never seen this flower; what we call magnolia here is a creamy white flower with very large petals. It smells divine!
ReplyDeleteFeeling happy to see the step by step pictures of the Magnolias blossom. Love the color of them:)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I'm trying to think whether I've seen magnolias in India. Do they have a strong scent?
