Fall Foliage Skies #SkywatchFriday

This past week, I've been looking at the skies with fresh eyes.  No, I didn't get new glasses.  Rather, spouse and I have done a lot of local traveling this past 10 days, participated in several art trails, met new people, and got lots of great fall views.

Please join us on some of our October travels.

Salt Springs State Park, Franklin Forks, Pennsylvania.

More Salt Springs.  This property was a dairy farm owned by the Wheaton family from 1840 to 1973.  There is a salt springs there but there wasn't enough salt to make commercial use feasible.  These are some of the farm buildings.  The Wheaton residence is now the park's visitors center.

A vista in my area.  Don't you love the green of the grass?  It's been dry for so much of the growing season.  Oh yes, there's some fall color above the green.
Pumpkin and cornstalks season, October 12, Maine, New York.

Sky reflection, Otsiningo Park, Binghamton, New York October 11.

Leaves blowing in the wind (one is in the lower center of the picture), path in Otsiningo Park October 11.

A country road.  The gold and rust seems to have outcolored the red this year.

But speaking of red...

Not too many skies here, but I took this picture as a passenger on our way to Salt Springs, pointing at the driver's side window, and got this framed effect.

I leave you with one last cloud picture in Silver Lake Township, Pennsylvania.

Last week, Yogi, our head skywatcher, asked what our favorite season is.  It's hard for me to pick between spring and fall.  If spring began in May, I'd say May.  Right now, I would vote for fall.

We've had a nice run of mild temperatures this fall, but we will most likely have some highs only in the 40's F (4.4 C) early next week.  Winter is flexing its muscles and giving us some coming attractions, as we may get our first snow (it shouldn't stick) next week.

Joining Yogi and other skywatchers today for #SkywatchFriday.

  5. Picturesque in name and in view! I just love the names of everything in your area. And that farm is awesome! The family owned it for 133 years? Wow! What changes did it see in that time, I wonder?!
Fall is my favourite! It's usually quite brief here, though this year, we've had exceptional weather much, much longer than is normal. I'm grateful for every day of above-freezing temperatures!

  9. Thanks for the beautiful photos. This time of year always tangles up my feelings. I don't love the days becoming shorter, but I enjoy the crisp air and, if I travel outside of Louisiana, the colors. We mainly just stay green with a little brown here. ;)
