Throughout much of November I kept promising you pictures of a great sunset, and I kept getting distracted by other skywatching events.
I'm finally going to do it, but not all at once.
You never know when a great sunset will occur. There are no almanacs full of great sunset dates and times. You can be knowledgeable about the weather and clouds (as my spouse is) but even that is no guarantee of success. Sometimes, things come together. Sometimes, things don't.
A November day when you can see the sky and the sun (instead of our normal dull grey-white November sky) is a special event to celebrate. Shall we celebrate?
It started with the sun setting as we walked along the walking path after I got out of work.
The setting sun through a stand of Japanese knotweed, dead above ground.
In person, the glow of the knotweed was even more beautiful
Glow on the water.
The best is yet to come. As we used to say, Stay Tuned.
Joining Yogi and other skywatchers each Friday for #SkywatchFriday.
...the second one is the winner.
ReplyDeleteThat closeup of the red glow on the knotweed is an amazing picture. You caught it just at the right moment.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning images, Alana.
ReplyDeleteWorth waiting for
ReplyDeleteYou got it!! Yep its hard to predict great sunsets except when the sky is all blue or all gray you can pretty much write it off.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful skies. They say we get the best colors when there are particles in the sky, like smoke. Of course, clouds add drama.
ReplyDeleteWow, these are gorgeous. I will stay tuned!
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty so far.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful shots, I like it all !
ReplyDeleteWinter sunsets can be especially dramatic, since there are no tree leaves in the way. These are amazing.
ReplyDeleteI need to google knotweed when I am done commenting on SkyWatch blogs. Perhaps I already know what it is or perhaps I don't. LOL!
ReplyDeleteThe cloudscape is so fantastic!
ReplyDeleteLovely sunset photos ~ Wow! ~ thanks,
ReplyDeleteWishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

Very nice pictures!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe sunset is beautiful, of course, but also somewhat eerie. That adds to the beauty.
ReplyDeleteI see an angel swooping down in the first two. These are beyond beautiful. Such cherished moments, Alana. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAmazing shots, so gorgeous
