It's the next to last day of the Blogging from A to Z Challenge, and also time to be accountable. Here's a Yarn for you, so to speak.
Accountable for what, you may ask?
Well....part of my theme is the unexpected. I'm sure you didn't expect a post about me crocheting a blanket. It's not just any blanket, though.
I first blogged about crocheting a temperature blanket on November 17, 2022. On January 25, 2023, I told my readers I was underway. I did start. I even purchased almost all of the yarn over the last year.
What is a temperature blanket? You
pick colors representing temperature ranges that make sense for your
climate (or the climate of someone you want to gift the blanket to). You can knit, crochet or quilt it.
Some people make one for a new child or grandchild/great grand in their
family to record their first year of life. Or, you can just make one
for no reason at all, like me..
I recorded the high and low temperatures for
every day in 2023 and my plan was to crochet one row for each day's
high with its assigned color. These are my color picks for the Yarn I'm using:
Once a month, I blog about my progress. Hence, the above Yarn.
As of today, I am up to June 20, 2023. I still have almost six months to go.
With warmer weather, I crochet less, or not at all. We'll see what the next months bring.
"Y" day in the Blogging from A to Z Challenge. My theme: Gardens, History, Art, and the Unexpected.
Tomorrow - Z, last but not least.
That is a fantastic idea. The finished article will look wonderful.
ReplyDelete...this is quite a project.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely is this, Alana. I used to knit when Mum was around. As I always needed some hand holding here and there. It's been such a while now. I hope to some day all over again. Thanks for sharing this beautiful endeavour with us.
ReplyDeleteLate to the #MM party from last week, but will hop in. :)
Happy Crocheting.
It’s coming along nicely
ReplyDeleteDo you have a good estimate at the finished size of your afghan? I understand they can get HUGE if you don't choose well. I'm currently a little behind on my temperature tree sampler, having cross-stitched the leaves only up until April 9 so far! The needle needs to fly these next couple of days!
ReplyDeleteMaybe a temperature scarf would go quicker, being not so wide! The temperature yarn is getting warmer, and so is your actual temperature. I can understand not wanting to sit under a blanket crocheting!
ReplyDeleteIt's getting there. You'll get it done this year ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the colors.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this and salute any and all efforts to finish!
ReplyDeleteThat's a slick-looking blanket!
ReplyDeleteNice work, Alana. Granny loved to crochet too😸Extra Pawkisses🐾😽💞
