Now we can do something for cats, in honor of Morris, here in 2013, or so I'm told. And all we have to do is go online and...
....watch cat videos?
Yes. If you go to a site called Morris Rescue Watch, and watch videos, the ASPCA promises:
"The more you watch, the more hungry kitty bellies will be filled! Through our grants program, the ASPCA will be distributing the entire amount of food as in-kind donations nationwide to shelters, rescues, and other animal welfare groups that help feed cats in-need and at-risk."On the ASPCA website, there is a long list of rescue organizations, humane shelters, and others, who will be receiving these donations.
Do you ever participate in these "free click" types of promotions? I was slightly disappointed to find only two organizations in New York State, both in New York City, but clicked on a couple of the videos anyway. Also, the total number watched just somehow didn't seem high enough - I would think cat lovers would be flocking to this.
So, this may be a good opportunity for the blogging community to "pay it forward". Care to watch a cat video or two today?
What do you think?
I had no idea Morris had starred in so many commercials! Great cause and will share!
ReplyDeleteThank you! We need to get those numbers up.
DeleteOh my goodness! Is it really that simple? I will go and watch a few clips! I can definitely do that!! Great post!
ReplyDeleteYes, it seemed to be that simple. The videos aren't that long, and there are no commercials beforehand.
DeleteI hadn't heard of this free click option before. However, another awesome option for getting free $ for charity is this: http://www.charitymiles.org/ Log miles that you run, bike, or walk and money is donated to your charity :)
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing. I've never heard of this app before and I always have my phone with me when I exercise walk. I did a little research and it's legit, so guess what app I am going to be getting shortly? Thank you!
DeleteUpdate. I was planning to upgrade to iOS 7 shortly. This doesn't seem to work right on that OS; I will wait until all the bugs are worked out.
DeleteThanks for bringing this to my attention. As one who has lived with many rescue cats over the years, including my current babies Beau and Bella, this is a cause that is close to my heart. I am sharing the information with my readers on my "Caturday" post and I'm linking to your post.
ReplyDeleteThank you for getting the word out, and for linking. What a wonderful idea this was.
Deletethis is a noble cause. i would definitely watch it more
ReplyDeleteI never saw Morris. What a great story. However, I don't have time or inclination to watch cat commercials. Too busy writing.
ReplyDeleteThis is just wonderful. I remember Morris well. Thank you for the post!!
ReplyDeleteI used to love those Morris commercials! I certainly can watch a video or two to benefit the kitties. Great post, Alana!
ReplyDeleteAh I'd never actually heard of this before, I have gone to find more on youtube! 8-)
