We are almost finished with fall here in the southern tier of upstate New York and are entering fell, if you look at the season the way she does. But fall is still with us for a few more days. Please come with me on a little local journey as I explore fall with my iPhone camera. Let's take some pictures that explore the various facets of our fall season.
First, some autumn foliage. So fleeting, the moments of color. Enjoy them now, as in a few days, they will lie, abandoned, on the ground.
The Cider Mill in Endicott, New York is still making cider, and still selling apples.
And, it is still making donuts, so beloved by our area.
Our area is apple growing country. We take it for granted, sometimes, that we can walk into a farm market (even at this time of year) and find 10 or 15 varieties of apples. Some are the familiar ones sold in supermarkets throughout the United States. Others aren't, such as Pippen and Northern Spy. Some of these varieties will also make it into our local cider.
Every day must end.
Almost the same scene, a few minutes later |
But not without a floor show. I watched the sunset briefly with one of the children of my neighbor, who has long since vanished into the sad world of dementia.
Now, I blog, and later, I may bake some apples.
What did you do today?
Today is day 7 of NaBloPoMo, National Blog Posting Month.
I've never been to apple press place. We have one here and a lot of people takes there apples in, to have cider made.
