My theme for the Blogging from A to Z Challenge has been "Days of Our Lives". What more is a part of our lives than the beauty of nature?
Especially on a beautiful spring day.
Spring is the season of renewal. Of returning. One by one, here in upstate New York, the plants are waking from their winter Sleep. This year, however, there was a major problem.
Mild weather caused them to wake up too soon. When a blast of unusually cold weather came through, blooms died. It looks like we won't have much in the way of forsythias or cherries this year.
But other plants and flowers are Springing out after their winter rest. Spring renewal has begun.
A white hyacinth in the "golden hour" before sunset.
Barrenwort.
A daffodil on my front lawn.
Creeping phlox in nearby Binghamton, New York.
And, of course, tulips.
Finally, in front of a factory building being demolished, Bradford Pears in bloom.Nature can be dangerous and unpredictable (thinking now of those suffering through the aftermath of floods in Houston and earthquakes in Ecuador and Japan, among other recent tragedies) but when it decides to show its beauty, nature shows its other Side.
"Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives". Let us spring forward and remember that every day is a chance to show gratitude for the good things in our lives.
"S" day on the Blogging from A to Z Challenge.
I stopped growing forsythia because of our crazy weather and having the buds killed. Despite the heat and then frost this year, all the forsythias around here are blooming. I'm busy watching everything bud. The neighbor's magnolia is in bloom and is lovely from my kitchen window.
ReplyDeleteSpring is my favorite time of year, thanks for sharing the flowers.

Ahhhh Spring - it's Autumn here in Australia and just starting to get chilly - I have a rug over my knees as I write this! All those blooms make me feel Springy though :) Leanne @ cresting the hill
ReplyDeleteFlowers are a gentle reminder of how nature can be magical if we allow it to be. sadly, as you mentioned disasters can be a warning of how scary they can be too

You forgot to mention that Spring Cleaning (the drudgery of cleaning one's house from top to bottom) is upon us, as well.
ReplyDeleteSpring is the best time for gardening lovers. My balcony has blooming Gerbaeras and China Roses! I want to grow more flowers! Yours are lovely!
ReplyDeleteNo cherries!?! Now, that's a tragedy.

Spring is a beautiful time of year. I love wandering around in the woods to try and catch those early spring flowers that are here for only a short time.
ReplyDeleteNice to meet a fellow A-Z Challenger. :)
I agree. Especially in Spring it's so easy to look around and see beauty everywhere.
ReplyDeleteThat one thing I don't have is phlox. But we're getting a little bit of rain.
