Traveling Through Time- Music Monday #AtoZChallenge

If you are looking for my Blogging from A to Z reflections post, click here.

Otherwise, welcome to my usual Music Mondays post.

My Blogging from A to Z "S" post about the 1960's duo Simon and  Garfunkel was so popular with my readers that I have decided to use Simon and Garfunkel songs starting with the letter T as the topic for today's Music Monday posts.

Just listening to these songs makes me travel through time and space to my teenage years spent in a housing project in the Bronx.

The Sounds of Silence.

This is the original version - the hit single came from another album called "The Sounds of Silence". More recently, this song was covered with great success by a hard rock group called Disturbed.

The Only Living Boy in New York is a song perhaps not well known, but I love the harmonies in it and the parts recorded in an echo chamber.  The song foreshadows their 1970 breakup.

One more song - a hit, The Boxer.

Memories of my childhood in the Bronx, brought back to me by music.

I am linking today with Cathy at Curious as a Cathy as Mewsicians Celebrate their birthdays.
Come join the fun with your music post!

  1. I had the Bridge Over Troubled Water album, great album.

  2. Somehow, choosing to use T in The seems a bit off...
Not the music mind you, just the cataloguing process.

  3. Alana,

Whoo-hoo! I love mewsic! Simon & Garfunkel is one of my favorite 60s & 70s group. You ought to join the Monday Mewsic Moves Me on the dance floor. Don't worry about not having this week's theme (we usually don't care as long as your post contains mewsic) and join the linky party. We'd love to have you!

I hope to see you on the dance floor!

  4. Yes back to my youth too. Add in some Carol King and I am a teenager again!

  5. Some melodies just make you nostalgic, don't they? These are soulful numbers.

  6. Oh, I do love "The Sounds of Silence".

  7. Hey! That's a trip down memory lane for me too! We even had to learn this song in music class at school . BTW Did you receive any of my comments during the challenge ? I enjoyed your musical memories and regularly dropped by.

  8. Bellybytes, I'm disturbed to know of your problems. You did ask once before and those are the only two comments I received from you in April and May - the two that said you were having trouble. Again, I'm sorry, and I wonder if anyone else is having trouble. I did have trouble from time to time with blogger blogs in general. (Other times, I had to leap through countless hoops of Captcha's) Please, don't stop reading. Please be assured I also check my spam folder regularly, just in case you or other legit bloggers end up in there.

  9. Now I totally agree with Cathy! We'd love to have you rock with us every Monday at the 4M's Monday's Music Moves Me! If you like to join in the fun with our theme it's in my side-bar all week long and every other week is a Freebie where you can post anything you like & every now and then I pick a Spotlight Dancer who gets to pick the theme for everyone to do! Sound like fun? Cool, hope to see you next week cuz I can see here you can pick some dynamite music!!! YOU ROCK!!!!

  10. "Only Living Boy In New York" was a great song to slow-dance to, an important feature of a song to 14-year-old boys...

  11. Alana, thanks for joining the dance floor with the 4M gals & company! We hope to see you next week. The theme is "60s Rock Songs" but like I said, we're not mewsic snobs. Tell a friend and I'll see you Monday (if not before)! ;)

  12. We do have some faves from Simon and GArfunkel. Thanks for the line up
