Three Cheers for Independence Day

Today, in the United States, it is Independence Day.  For this year, it's going to be cause for great celebration.

Let's celebrate with some flowers.

Red geraniums

White impatiens after a rain (with one pink impatien).

About as close to blue as you can get in a cultivated flower.

Even wildflowers want to celebrate Independence Day

No Red but I do have a White Queen Anne's Lace with a Japanese beetle on it.

The closest one can come to blue in a wildflower - here, chicory.

Independence Day would not be complete without some music, so here is some "America" themed music.  My favorite piece of fireworks music is this song by James Brown: Living in America.

Three cheers for the red, white and blue.  Our country is flawed, yes, but we also have a lot to celebrate.  Let today be the day to do it.

    1. Agreed, Tom. Hard to believe I did not like his music growing up. Now I love him.

  6. Isn't chicory the most amazing blue color? I have been taking photo after photo of it at the park when Mickey and I go for walks.
    Have a nice 4th!
