What is Love #MusicMovesMe

It's Monday and it's time for love.

Who are the Music Moves Me bloggers? We are bloggers who blog about music each Monday and if you have music to share with us, you are most welcome to join! (Music Posts Only-meaning at least one music video, please!)   First, there is XmasDolly.  (She has been a bit under the weather, but will be rejoining us as soon as she can.  Hoping it is today, but if not, please get better soon!) Her co-hosts are: Stacy of Stacy Uncorked, Cathy from Curious as a Cathy, and me.

We'd love more music lovers to join us.  It's easy! All you have to do is join the linky above with a music post that contains at least one music video (there must be a music video).

Each month, except December, we have a guest conductor. For the month of February, we welcome Songbird from Songbird's Crazy World.  Today, she has selected the theme "Love Songs".

You'd think that it would be easy but there are so many types of love songs to choose from.

I hope you like the Beatles because they had some good ones.

And I Love Her, from 1964 and the movie A Hard Day's Night.

In My Life, from 1965.

Michelle, from 1965. It won a Grammy Award in 1967.

The Beach Boys and God Only Knows.

And then there is one of the most danceable songs of all time (with a wonderful dance video), Haddaway and What is Love, from 1993.

Or, love can be a battlefield, as Pat Benetar sings.

This final song didn't start as an instrumental; it started as Luxembourg's entry in the 1967 Eurovision contest, sung in French by Vicky Leandros.  Her performance finished fourth.  Then, in 1968, as an instrumental by Paul Mauriat, it reached #1 in the United States.

I waffled between the two versions but decided to save the instrumental for another day.   For my last song, here is Vicky Leandros and L'amour Est Bleu.

And that's a wrap!

See you again same time, same place, next week for another episode of Music Moves Me.

  2. "In My Life" is my favorite. If I had had a traditional wedding reception, that's the song I would have used. I requested at my daughter's wedding (no luck) and my niece's wedding a few weeks later (also no luck). I'll just have to hum it in my head LOL. :-)

  4. Alana,

"What Is Love" is a great dance song and one I haven't heard in a while. There aren't too many songs from the 90s that I'm crazy about but this one is really good. I always forget "Love Is Blue" originally had lyrics. Over all I prefer the instrumental version. Great set of songs for today. Thanks for sharing the dance floor with me, darlin'. Have a boogietastic week! XO

  6. The Beatles indeed had some monster love songs. And I Love Her was certainly one of their best. One girl I dated in high school had the Rubber Soul album and I think she wore the grooves out of that vinyl. Have a blessed week.

  7. I do love Pat Benetar. I'd add Linda Ronstadt & Aaron Neville doing "Don't Know Much."

  13. Oh,The Beatles. I usually say, "If they're on the radio (in car), I won't turn them off." Then realize I might switch stations!
My oldest son (who turned 40 in December... way to feel your age, or realize it!) and I had a discussion about being a The Beatles or The Rolling Stones person, and how people are often one or the other. I'm a The Rolling Stones. No The Beatles on my phone at all. The highest percentages are The Rolling Stones and Jackson Browne.
I do like the movies, A Hard Days Night and Help though!

  14. Did you ever see "A Night At The Roxbury" with Chris Kattan and Will Ferrell? The minute I started "What is love," that was all I could think of. Great set!
