It's Monday and, once again, it's time for Music!
Who are the Music Moves Me bloggers? We are bloggers who blog about music each Monday and if you have music to share with us, you are most welcome to join! (Music Posts Only-meaning at least one music video, please!) Our head hostess is Cathy from Curious as a Cathy, and she is joined by the knowledgeable Stacy of Stacy Uncorked and the world famous (not) me.

for now, and would appreciate your good thoughts as she works through

So, why not start with some songs I remember from my childhood? Three songs that mention the month of June? Prepare yourself for some oldies, but goodies.
Speaking of June, July and August, this Freddy Cannon song (from 1960) is the "B" side of his hit "Palisades Park".
Enjoy the harmonies of this drinking song. The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem with "The 23rd of June."
Not all songs about June are happy songs, though. I know a few songs by Al Stewart (and had one of his albums on vinyl) but what I didn't know is that he also has written/performed a number of historical themed songs. One of them is "The Last Day of June 1934" and, and if you are student of 20th century history, this song will give you chills.

ReplyDeleteYou did a fab job with your song picks. "Shine On Harvest Moon" is the only song I knew in your line up. Al Stewart's song sounds a bit familiar but I'm not so sure. I checked out the song's lyrics. This one is a sad one indeed. Tyrants have no place in this world. What a sad era. Thankfully, Hitler was crushed but not without much death. Thanks for sharing the dance floor with me, darlin'! Have a boogietastic week!

ReplyDeleteI was under the impression that Harvest Moons were in September and October. Never did hear those next June songs though. (I actually feature a "June-ish" song today. And, that Al Stewart song is appropriate for the way things are going in the world today.
