It's Monday and, once again, it's time for music!
Who are the Music Moves Me bloggers? We are bloggers who blog about music each Monday and if you have music to share with us, you are most welcome to join! (Music Posts Only-meaning at least one music video, please!) Our head hostess is Cathy from Curious as a Cathy, and she is joined by the knowledgeable Stacy of Stacy Uncorked and (last but not least) me.
Our
founder, Marie aka Xmas Dolly, has stepped back from blogging
for now, and would appreciate your good thoughts as she works through
some health issues. The latest word from Marie is that she hopes to
return to occasional blogging sometime in the near future. Let's hope so!
We'd
love more music lovers to join our fun group. All you have to do is
join the linky above with a music post that contains at least one music
video (there must be a music video or your post will be subject to removal or labeling "No Music"). So easy!
Each month, except December, we have a guest host. For July, we are welcoming Songbird from Songbird's Crazy World.
Her theme for this week
is to build a playlist from from our 30th birthday year in
honor of her daughter's upcoming birthday. For me, that would be 1982.
I will choose December of 1982 for my playlist. All but the last song are taken from the United States charts.
Africa - Toto
Shadows of the Night - Pat Benatar
Shock the Monkey - Peter Gabriel
The Look of Love (Part 1) - ABC
Here's a fun song - Mickey, sung by Toni Basil, born Antonia Christina Basilotta. It's hard to believe she's now 78 years old. More trivia? The cheerleader uniform she wore in the video was her cheerleader uniform from high school. And yes, she choreographed the video. Not bad for a "fun song"!
I will end with this UK song on their charts: Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy duo by Bing Crosby and David Bowie. The first time I read they had performed together, I thought someone was pulling my leg. But it was true and I love this duet.
This was recorded September 11, 1977, shortly before Bing Crosby's death but I saw this song on the December 1982 UK chart so I'm using it. My blog, my rules! I know it's a Christmas song, but I love the harmonies on this song. What's wrong with Christmas in July?
That's another birthday wrap!
Join me again next week, same time, same place, for more Music Move Me.
Wow, 1982. I was in law school. Great choices!
ReplyDelete...musically I was asleep in the '80s.
ReplyDeleteGood picks! Much as I do love that Toto song, don't you agree they have some other great songs too?
ReplyDeleteloving my Mondays with you! CarolC
ReplyDeleteMost of those songs hold great memories for me.
ReplyDeleteI was curious what mine would have been for 1987. When I looked up hits from then I didn't know most of them, and never heard of many of the artists!
ReplyDeleteA fun year filled with beautiful music. Enjoyed your picks.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day and week. ♥
Pat Benatar was always my hero when I was a teenager. We also share a birthday!
ReplyDeleteGreat set! Toto AND Pat Benatar!
ReplyDeleteGreat songs today and thanks for the update on Marie (I was thinking about her yesterday and wondering how she was doing!)
ReplyDeleteSuch classic songs here. Very nice.
ReplyDelete1982 was a big year. Knoxville hosted the World's Fair Expo, as well as the Miss America pageant. The hotel where the girls stayed was just across the road from TVA where DH worked at the time. He'd come home telling me how all the men lost their minds babe watching. How hilarious! The music was another good thing that year and you picked some excellent songs. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!
ReplyDeleteClassics all! You're just a couple of years ahead of me. I need to take a peek now, back to 1985...
