December 3 Farmers Market

For some, it's the most wonderful time of the year.  For others, it's the time of year when farm markets disappear until spring, and all we have left is our indoor year round farmers market.

Not the best angle, but the entrance was busy and I had to grab a shot before someone opened the door.

Let's go in.

Beets (red in front, orange in back), carrots and parsnips.  Carrots this big can still be quite usable. My spouse likes to cut them in spears and roast them in the air fryer.  So good!

The parsnips are great in potato pancakes.

Let's see.  What else?  How about local mushrooms?

Or a cup of coffee?  It's too bad I can only have a sip or two of coffee; my body and coffee (even decaf) no longer get along.  It smelled so good, though.

Finally, celeriac, a root veggie I have never tried.  Have you?

  3. Those veggies look amazing and make me long for the days when I used to have an extensive fall garden. It's really the best time for gardening here.

  4. The root products are delicious! My grandma kept some in a root cellar when I was a child. I love beets and would love to cook some, husband hate it.

  6. Discounting potatoes and sweet potatoes, which aren't exactly roots, I can count how many root vegetables I eat on one finger. Carrots. I don't like any others! Oh, onions if... a lot of ifs there. I do like the root vegetable chips (original version) by Terra.

  7. Our farmers markets remain outdoors all year long. Of course, we don't actually have winter. I think I mentioned the last time you mentioned celeriac that Alton Brown had a recipe with it. But no, I've never tried it.
