It's Monday and it's time for music!
Today I am joining up with other Music Moves Me bloggers (and you can join us at the linky above). We are a group of music loving bloggers who blog about music each Sunday or Monday (or even later in the week). If you have music to share with us, you are most welcome to join! (Music Posts Only-meaning at least one music video, please! Otherwise, your post may be labeled "No Music".)
Our head host is Xmas Dolly, and our co-hosts are Cathy from Curious as a Cathy, joined by the knowledgeable Stacy of Stacy Uncorked and, last but not least, me.
Every other week we have a theme. This week's theme is "songs to start 2025 or songs to motivate you for the New Year".
I am going to "steal" the first song from Stacy of Stacy Uncorked (link above), who had this on her blog last week. One of our national treasures here in the United States is an actor, Dick Van Dyke, who will be turning 100 in December. This first video, from Coldplay, honors Dick Van Dyke as he was "then", on several hit shows you remember (plus a fair number of movies), and now. What an inspiration to start the year off right. Watch him move at certain points in the video and realize he is 99, and tear up over his family photos. Thank you, Stacy, for posting this video. It made my day.
This second song is one of my favorite Cher songs - Believe. Songs using Autotune aren't everyone's taste (my spouse can't stand it) but I love this pioneering song from 1998. Let's try to Believe in our personal power in 2025.
Let's also be motivated by the song "Let It Go" from the 2013 movie Frozen. Has it been that long?
Finally, a song that can motivate and inspire at any time of the year. Here is 1982's Eye of the Tiger by Survivor. This was the theme song of the movie Rocky III.
And that's a wrap!
Next week, if I remember, I will pay tribute to a couple of recent inductees into Rock and Roll Heaven.
Join me again next week for another episode of Music Moves Me.
I love Dick van Dyke - what an amazing performer he still is. Cher, too, is still belting out the songs and astonishing everyone with her verve and her performances. Such a tonic!
ReplyDelete...most haven't hit my radar screen.
ReplyDeleteThe local high school made Eye of The Tiger the school song. It's played at every football game.
ReplyDeleteL9ve that video with Dick Van Dyke. He 8s always so positive so I pray, the fires that destroyed his home did not affect him too negatively. He got out on the nick of ti
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to believe he's able to move this well to almost 100. I hadn't really paid a lot of attention to the song nor did I know Coldplay did it in honor of Dick's huge milestone at the end of this year. Judging by appearance I think he'll be around to enjoy the celebration in December. Thanks for sharing your song picks this week and have a boogietastic week, Alana! xo
ReplyDeleteDick Van Dyke is amazing.
ReplyDeleteI agree with John, Dick van Dyke is amazing.
ReplyDeleteMy daughters love “Frozen”. Two adult women who turn into little girls whenever something Disney is involved,
Survivor has always been a favorite.
ReplyDeleteLove that Chris Martin/Dick Van Dyke video. Thanks for the tunes - some great memories there.
ReplyDeleteEye of the Tiger always makes me chuckle. I remember riding around with my brother with that song on repeat.
ReplyDeleteThe Chris Martin/Dick Van Dyke video was amazing. A good playlist here.
ReplyDeleteWe also loved that video of Dick van Dyke and Coldplay, one of our favourite bands💗We love Cher, but we don't like autotuned either. You chosed some great inspiring songs for this year, Alana. Survivor still rings in Granny's ears, she had the LP, but the only song she liked was the Eye of the Tiger🙈Double Pawkisses for a Happy Week ahead🐾😽💞
