Raindrops Keep Falling on Our Heads

These daylily pictures were taken Sunday, before our onslaught of rain.

Peach.
Cherry
Dark pink and yellow
Purple (doesn't look as purple "in person")

Don't quite know what to call these but I like them.

Yellow (these are my largest flower).

And, from yesterday, orange from between storms when the sun came out.

It has been raining on and off and parts of the Northeast United States, where I live, have flooded.  When the rain gets heavy, I still become anxious, even six years since our major flood.  Perhaps this anxiety will never leave me, although it has gotten better over the years.

  1. The little rain we got here, despite dire predictions, was not worth much in the way of help. I do not need a flood, just some decent all day rain. Love your daylilies.

  2. Beautiful flowers. I am so sorry you faced a Flood and I would be anxious as well. Have a Blessed day and if you get some Rain send it my way. We could use it here in Texas.

  4. We could use a bit of that rain here. Ours abruptly stopped about ten days ago. Hot and dry gets very obnoxious very fast.

  9. What a collection of daylilies! I think they've all done their thing and faded out, here...this hasn't been much of a year for them.

  10. The lilies are gorgeous! I love them, but am afraid to have them because of the cats, so I'm always happy when someone shares pictures of theirs.

  11. This post embodies what I love about Day Lillies, they are all similar and yet so beautifully different.
    Hope your rain stops soon.

  12. Gorgeous photos. Having survived a derecchio while traveling from Prague to Frankfurt, and now "enjoying" the heat that I thought I abandoned in DC... I am not sure if I prefer better the rain or the heat.

  13. Alana,

We haven't had much rain lately. I think we got some thunderstorms one night...maybe Saturday or Sunday. I don't remember but we could use more. It's so hot and I'm trying to patiently not wish away these hazy, crazy days of summer but all I think about is fall and we know what follows next. I will say this is the first summer that I've tried to just live in the now instead of counting the days until the official end of the season. Your flower photographs are lovely. My late MIL loved flowers. She would like these a lot! It makes me a little sad when we visit my FIL to see that the flowers no longer linger. I know he can't do it and the woman who cares for him probably isn't interested in doing it or just doesn't have time. Regardless what the reason, it's not the same. I sure do miss my precious MIL. She was such a peach!
